I found that claim a little dubious myself.

The reasons I didn't say anything is:
A - I've never worked with a british audio engineer.
B - The only mixing console I've ever seen with the option to toggle whether EQ came before or after the inserts was an Allen & Heath, which is a British company. I remember noting it and thinking "why on earth would you want that?" I still can't think of any good reasons, though.
