I don't know if anyone else noticed this... but this new board loads alot faster for me than the old board did!

The old board loaded ok for me, but I'd say
within the last week it was starting to slow down.
Not in activity, but speedwise. Anyone else notice
this?

That was another concern of mine, and another reason why we moved to this board. The activity on the old board was really picking up, and I wasn't sure how well it would hold up. This board should be able to handle TONS of traffic without any problems. We'll find out.

Yeah, the old board was getting really slow. I was happy to find that this board was alot quicker! I hope it doesn't slow down when alot of people start comin', though.

I totally agree...love the speed up! All in all the board seems much easier to use and much more streamlined.

MICKEY!! what happened to the whole profile thingy with the cool picture that you could select and stuff that was in the last board?? that was pretty cool!!! (maybe it was slowing it down?)

The cool picture that you can select in your profile will be back soon. This board is running a totally different back end, which is a big reason for the speed increase. They are upgrading the front end of the board in a few weeks, and one of the additions will be the pictures. It shouldn't slow things down much, either, since we'll still be running on the same system (for those that care, this board is running MySQL and PHP, whereas the other board was all CGI-based).

All that technical stuff aside, the boards are looking mighty fine, everybody. I was a little worried that no one would want to abandon their old threads and begin anew, but we have done well I think. The site runs runs beautifully too, so as soon as we get some pic capabilities, we be rockin'...

The speed is a lot quicker - good move mickey. And as much as I love all the little quirks, what I really enjoy is the actualy content of the posts. Therefore, with the speed being much better, I love it, as I can read more and post more in less time.

Actually, all the glowing words and stuff like that can be distracting. I sort of like this new board better.

Actually, I liked having the possibilty of the glow and shadow and stuff. Admittedly, many folks were jsut throwing them out as eye candy for fun, but they would have fallen into their place as accents for the posts. Just have to let the novelty wear off, thats all.

Maybe we can get those options back in the upcoming upgrade...?

I didn't even hardly get a change to even try out those neat effects! Just as soon as we got them, Mickey put up
the new board, so I only got to use 'glow' and all that cool stuff a few times.
