I know all of this is probably very frustrating to you... but don't let it get you down. If you get discouraged, you are much less likely to be able to figure out what you are doing wrong. You need to sit down and calmly, rationally read through the instruction manuals for both the S-90 and for Sonar. Look for pages that have to do with hooking up the keyboard to the computer, transmitting MIDI data via USB, using Sonar to record MIDI data from a USB port, etc.

You don't have to read the entire manual (I'm sure they're both huge)... just the parts that will help. Yamaha is usually pretty good about having their manuals online... I'll see if I can find the one for the S-90 and give it a look. That way I'll be able to tell you where to look and hopefully exactly what to do to get this to all work for you.

Gotta go for tonight... God bless!!

In His love,
Nate

Thanks so much for all your help Keyboardfreak! I love playing, and if I could get it to work I'd finally have all my stuff recorded. You've made some great suggestions and I'm definitely going to try those as soon as I get my computer back.

Thanks again!

I've been currently looking into keyboards of this type myself. A friend of mine has a Triton Studio, and he says its a waste of money, becuase all the extra stuff the studio adds you can do via software, and save $1000. Personally for the type of music it seems like you want to do, I think I'd suggest the Korg Triton series over the rest. I personally lean tword either the Triton LE 88 (Same CPU and samples as the Studio minus the Touch Screen and sampling is an add on board), or trying to find a used Triton ProX (Slower CPU, but has touch screen and built in sampling). The reason I suggest the ProX and LE 88 is becuase they have weighted keys, actually from what I understand they have weighted keys made by Yamaha (so you woulden't notice much of a difference).

The Fantom had some good features, but I really didn't like the quality of a lot of their samples. The Motif was about the same, it was really good for realistic samples, but not for techno or synth sounds.
