no, i'm not an avid banjo player. i'm only playing it for the song "the pirates who don't do anything" me and some buddies are gonna dress up and give it a whirl. but anyways....what are the strings of a banjo tuned to? there's the top (top...like, the one where the peg is halfway up the neck) and then the next string down, I'm thinking that it's supposed to be a G. I'm not sure though. thanks for any help!

Tips...hmmm. It's good to start with keeping either your pinky or ring finger planted. I think most banjo players would say that keeping both planted is ideal for stability...but that can be hard to get used to.
Go to www.banjohangout.org for your banjo needs. I'd also recommend getting a copy of Guitar-Pro (www.guitar-pro.com) and going to www.mysongbook.com and downloading the banjo tabs so you can play along. Cripple Creek is probably one of the best songs to start out with.
