| amp for metalcore band I'm looking for a good amp cause I'm in band of metalcore, hardoce, new-metal etc. and Iwant to Know What do you think
I was thinking on the Line 6 flextone 2-12 100w or the
Crate GLX1200H 100W Half-Stack Package
I know that the line 6 have more effects and stuff but I just want to know what do you think?

| For metal/nu-metal, I think that the Crate amp distortion is superb. I used a GX-212 (which is a predecessor to the GLX series) and I thought the distortion was just great for punk rock...and with some tweaking, I would've had a great nu-metal distortion. |

| id get the line 6 cause crates are junk. Line 6 amps are more versitlye too that way if you feel the need to clean it up you can (that and crate amps sound like absolute crap)

| How many Crate amps have you used? They're the only good sounding low budget amp. Sure, they're no Marshall or Mesa, but the gain stage is better than that of any Fender SS amp. |

| Probably the best suggestion is to go out and try all three.
I can guarantee that the Line6 will be the most expensive of the three, unless you opt for a lower powered Line6(like a Spider 112). |

| I think it mostly depends on how many watts, how much cash, and what style of music you play.

| If you have a 800.00 dollar budget, why are you looking at low end stuff like Crate. The Crate, Line 6, and Randall stuff will only do the nu-metal. You will NOT get a very versatile high gain amp with any of those. Randall is not much different than Crate, except that it has more gain. But both sound bad, IMHO. Line 6 is a toy.
SS=YUCK
Modeling=YUCK
I recommend you look for a used Marshall. Maybe a DSL or TSL combo. Shoot, for 800 clams, you might even happen into a half stack. Also look into a used Peavey 5150 or XXX combo. The Peavey distortion is awsome. I can not believe I am about to say this, but for your needs a Marshall AVT is WAY better than these other SS recommendations. ESPECIALLY for metal. Carvin has some very good stuff, but I do not know if they have any really high gain amps. I would guess they do but I do not know. You could also look into a nice Fender and run a Tonebone Hot British in front. That would be an AWSOME combo.
TUBES=YUMMY
Also I guarantee you do NOT need 100 watts. Especially with tubes. You will probably never find yourself in a venue large enough that has no PA, that will allow to really get to the amps SWEET spot and get the great power tube saturation. 50 watts is plenty for almost anything. After that use the PA.
Anyway try out a bunch of amps. In the end it comes down to what you like.
Good Luck.
