| Hey, Im trying to post a recording of mine, but it wont seem to let me attach it. Any help? Is 3.87 MB too big? If so, what's another way to get it on here? I'd really like to get ya'lls opinion. Thanks. |

| Here it is finally..... my first recording. Tell me what ya'll think, you know, what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong. I can handle criticism, so dont worry about that. The drums are fake, so dont judge those too harshly, I know they sound horrible. Thanks. http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/...d=3728&alid=-1

| Hey your recording had good quality of sound and the drums sounded good also. It had a lack of variety or motif. Kind of repetive but i was impressed by the clarity of the recording, after hearing many PC mic recordings on here (including mine ).

| Hey, yeah I posted the song on Harmony Central and I got some good criticism there. The problem I found is that the bass is too loud, but for some reason, it doesnt sound nearly as loud when I'm mixing it as after I did the mixdown into a single wav file. Maybe its my Winamp or something, but whenever I play it, the bass seems a lot heavier. It's making mixing it very hard. Any tips? There's some other issues I've fixed now, but I'm not gonna post the new verison till I get it done better. Oh, btw, im useing Nuendo for software. And about the repetition, yeah, i kinda recognized that, but there's a lot of good songs out there that are repetitious, including a lot of my influences, so I think thats where it kinda came out. Oh well, the actual song I'm not worried about, just the recording. I wasnt even sure I really liked the song that much when I started recording. But it started to develop as I recorded, and I kinda like it now. So we'll see where it goes. |

| I just found it lacking in a motif or theme. |

| Hmm.... what exactly do you mean? Like a theme? I based the whole song on the intro progression. It's repeated in several places, and modified for the bridge and verse to get different kinda parts. The chorus is where I tried to break away from it a little, but it's still very much related. Starts on the same chord, just an octave lower, it also has pretty much the same rhythm. But I always go back to that intro riff. So im not sure what you mean by lacking a theme. If you could explain further, that would be great. |

| I'm going to be constructively critical here so dont take it personally but try take what you can and use it to improve. A Motif is A short tune or musical figure that characterizes and unifies a composition. It can be of any length, but is usually only a few notes long. A motif can be a melodic, harmonic or rhythmic pattern that is easily recognizable throughout the composition.
You know when you hear a song on the radio and later you find yourself whistling or humming the tune? That is likely the motif. A theme is The musical basis upon which a composition is built. Usually a theme consists of a recognizable melody or a characteristic rhythmic pattern. The theme may sometimes be called the subject.
Your song had a good rhythm track going but there was not much melody. The what i assumed to be a chorus at 0:45 had it a bit with the higher guitar part but it wasn't too definite. With vocal does often come melody but you can give it one with guitar. I believe that would improve your song alot. Also i know you seem to like the repetiveness and please dont take it personally but i believe it would have a greater appeal if there was a slight varation in the 2nd verse and Chorus and something unique in the bridge. Its a common musical idea called "Theme and Variation". The defininition of this is A style of composition that first presents a basic theme and then develops and alters that theme in successive statements. |

| Dude, dont worry. I can take constructive criticism. Heck, thats why I posted the song! So thanks for the advice! I'll take it all into consideration. I can sorta see what your saying so I'll try to work it in. This is one of my more repetitve songs though. I have more that arent as repetitive and lean more to the Tool kinda sound and things really develop off of that one riff. Haven't recorded yet as I havent set the order of things yet. But it may come in the future. EDIT: I accidently said "can't" take constructive criticism. Sorry.

| Okay, so I just made this thing up a couple minutes ago, just messing around. What do you guys think? I'm pretty excited that I made in up in like 2 minutes. The tonality of it kinda bothers me, like it's not exactly how I want it to sound.

| I used the computer mic and Acid 2.0 to make this perucssion track. I layered 5 tracks of percussion. (it was 4 then I decided I wanted that whirling noise at the begining and just made it a seperate track). The tracks are as follows.
Track 1 - Congas (main beat)
Track 2 - Chimes (Just tapping with both hands on areas on the chimes to make a constant chiming effect)
Track 3 - Wooden bells (the 'lead' part)
Track 4 - Rain Stick (used as a shaker, its hard to pick out but it adds to the sound)
Track 5 - Little wooden rattling thing (for that warbaling sound at the begining)

Anyway, here's that acoustic thingy with bass added. MUCH fuller sounding. | Hey Shredcheddar, I really like your Acoustic Doubleshot and Bass, but it would be rockin' with drums! This being said...

I also added a little wah-wah on the intro... I hope I didn't take my artistic license too far! |

| Here's a little something I did on the Roland V-Session kit at church. Sorry the backing is so repetitive... it's just a loop. Also, compression killed the high-end so it's a little difficult to hear the ride cymbal. Hope you like it... |

I'm ready to make some mixdowns and post them here!
