Monty Python and the Holy Grail

I just realized that I have never seen a thread dedicated to Monty Python and the Holy Grail in this forum.

Anyway, yes, this is one of those that I watch incessantly, usually late at night, and yes, I am one of those annoying people that uses every awkward situation as an excuse to throw out a quote from Holy Grail.

If any of you aspiring film makers want a case study in a cheaply produced movie, check this movie out.

Wow, if this is the first thread ever, that is pretty amazing.

Great movie though, just genius. Nobody has or will touch the greatness that is Monty Python. Ah, so many hilarious quotes... I have it on DVD, I need to watch it again.

monty python rocks. granted its slightly sacreligious at points, but i love it.
what makes it even funnier to me is how historically accurate it really is.

"run away!"

This may be the first MP&THG thread in this forum, but I've seen them elsewhere. Fear not!

I may have to post the entire Dennis the Peasant scene sooner or later. Pure comedic genius, that. I had it entirely memorized at one point in time.

There are some who call me.... Tim?!?

Absolute greatness. I spend a lot of time quoting this movie in awkward situations... And I'm always looking for a good reason to say:

Help! Help! I'm being repressed! Come see the violence inherant in the system!!

We're Knights of the Round Table.
We dance whene'er we're able.
We do routines and chorus scenes
With footwork impeccable.
We dine well here in Camelot.
We eat ham and jam and spam a lot.
We're Knights of the Round Table.
Our shows are formidable,
But many times we're given rhymes
That are quite unsingable.
We're opera mad in Camelot.
We sing from the diaphragm a lot.

In war we're tough and able,
Quite indefatigable.
Between our quests we sequin vests and impersonate Clark Gable.
It's a busy life in Camelot.

I have to push the pram a lot.
-=====================-
On second thought, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place.

Haha, the Brave Sir Robin song.

"When danger reared its ugly head, he bravely turned his tail and fled, brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin."

S #1: Where'd you get the coconuts?

A : We found them.

S #1: Found them? In Mercia? The coconut's tropical!

A : What do you mean?

S #1: Well, this is a temperate zone.

A : The swallow may fly south with the sun or the house martin or the plover may seek warmer climes in winter, yet these are not strangers to our land?

S #1: Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?

A : Not at all. They could be carried.

S #1: What? A swallow carrying a coconut?

A: It could grip it by the husk!

S #1: It's not a question of where he grips it! It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.

A: Well, it doesn't matter. Will you go and tell your master that Arthur from the Court of Camelot is here.

S #1: Listen. In order to maintain air-speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings forty-three times every second, right?

A: Please!

S #1: Am I right?

A: I'm not interested!

S #2: It could be carried by an African swallow!

S #1: Oh, yeah, an African swallow maybe, but not a European swallow. That's my point.

S #2: Oh, yeah, I agree with that.

A: Will you ask your master if he wants to join my court at Camelot?!

S #1: But then of course a-- African swallows are non-migratory.

S #2: Oh, yeah...

S #1: So they couldn't bring a coconut back anyway...

We are the Knights who say...NI! Keepers of the Sacred words.

(Skip a few lines)

Oh, great Knights who say Ni, what do you require of us?

We require a......shrubery!

Not exactly right, but I've only seen it once.

While the witch and the Knights are cool, the best scene in the entire movie is King Arthur vs. the Black Knight. That is what I call high quality H2.....I mean, film making.
