I believe Apostolics also believe in the tounges = saved idea.....Is there an actual theological name for that. Better yet, is there a site that has just theological terms?

well, apostolics are a type of pentecostal...
and they do believe that, which i kind of have a problem with.( I attend an apostolic church.)
as for the clothing issue, my organization is like, dresses for the women, long pants for the guys. Period. If dressed otherwise, you're kind of looked down on, and almost considered a sin, or a symptom of it. (i don't like that either)
-only other apostolics are considered brothers in christ. (i have a BIG problem with that...!)

But then my church is half and half pentecostal/non-denom

I was just given a book to read supporting modalism, and it claimed that 1/4 of all pentacostals embaced oneness theology. If anything, I owuld guess this is a high figure.

The only pentacostal sub-denominations that are modalistic that I know of are the United Pentacostals and the Oneness Pentacostals.

What's the deal with "guy's must wear pants, no shorts" and "women must wear dresses, can't wear makeup, and can't shave their legs"? We've got a lot of that going around where I live. What's the scriptural justification of it?

Icthus, the larger penecostal denominations (as well as quite a few indepdendant penecostal churches) are trinitarian.....And I'm one of em.

The 1/4 of penecostals that embrace oneness is somewhat accurate in america, but not the world. There are far more trinitarians to oneness pentecostals around the world.....The number would be more like 1/8th once you take the world into account.

1st Peter 3:3 is the verse that would point to the whole jewlery thing....

The holiness thing isn't quite a pentecostal idea alone......We've just preserved it longer than some have......Or for that matter, taken it a little bit more extreme than some.

pentecostal doctrine

Pentecostals believe in oneness of the Godhead. I am a pentecostal. We believe in repenting of sins, being baptized in JESUS name, and receiving the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit of God gives the evidence. If u need biblical backup look at Acts 2:38.

Not all pentacostals accept modalist (oneness) doctrine. I know this from much personal experience.

And please go over to theology and make a new thread out of what you just posted so we can discuss it.

I go to an Assembly of God church and we believe in baptizing in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. We belive you do not have to be filled with the Holy Spirit to go to heaven, but that you need to accept Jesus in to your heart. I have had several friends that have been to my church and have not understood why people were saying things he could not understand, but it did not drive them away. I personaly would not change my beliefs just to make people feel "more comfortable."

If you deny the Trinity, you might as well be an atheist, imho.

Why is that Icthus? I mean, I firmly believe in the Trinity but how will not believing in it condemn one to hell? As long as they believe In God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost. Or do I totally not understand what they're (oneness) about?
