LOL! Just think - Toronto has a programme in place where kids can trade in illegal firearms for Raptors' tickets. Now why would a person trade in a perfectly good .40 calibre Beretta for Raptor's tickets? Especially when they live in the Jane / Finch or Regent Park areas. They should have a programme where you trade in Raptors' tickets for kevlar vests...:ktongue:

Maybe I'm weird, but I like Toronto. I like walking around downtown, stopping into the shops along Bloor St. W (although everything is waaaaay out of my price range), and sitting in Queen's Park. The only thing that I don't like about Toronto is the rat race mentality that comes with having a big city.

Yeah, because everybody looks at you like you're from another planet. Whenever I take the TTC, I see everybody rushing to get on the train, some just sliding in as the doors close, and there I am, just taking my sweet old time. I figure, "What's the rush? Another train's coming along in five minutes anyway, so what if I miss this one." Five minutes is neither here nor there. People move up to Barrie to get away from Toronto's rat race, but it's getting just as bad here.

Here's a picture of Hwy. 400 at Essa Rd. in the early 1960s. That big white blob in the middle is Kempenfelt Bay (off Lake Simcoe).

And here's the RHLI (WR) Regimental band marching up Main St. West in Hamilton.

And here they are assembled with the Pipes and Drums of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada at Ivor Wynne Stadium (well, actually, it's Brian Timmins Stadium, right out in front of Ivor Wynne).

Just as a side note, when I was younger, the school that I attended was about 100 or so yards from the stadium, so sometimes, we would skip school to sneak in and watch the Tiger Cats warm up and practice.

I"m not too handy with a camera, so here are some pictures I've lifted off the Parks Canada website:

I want to post pictures of Pickering but they're hard to find so I found a solution:

I found a presentation in which you can find the best pictures of Pickering's waterfront. There is also a picture of Pickering's old elevator. There are some great pictures of the power plant and the very last picture is a dragonboat picture! You must see! hehe

Just go to this website:

http://www.citrusmedia.com/waterfront/

And click on "THE PRESENTATION"

Then click on "Download Slide Show"
The Show will come up on top of your open windows after you select the "open" option and you move from slide to slide with the spacebar. You can leave anytime by pressing Esc.

I was in pickering the other day... we were coming back from Peterborough.

I thought of you.

We stopped at Canadian Tire and it was exactly the same as the one we have in Brampton.

Just thought I'd let you know that.

Did you know every Town Pantry convenience store is the same? Slurpee machene across from the door, bathrooms across from the counter...
It gets creepy after a while. I think all the staff look alike too.

Hey cool! That is our newer Canadian Tire. It just got moved a few years ago.

Peteborough! My grandparents live there! Were you visiting your grandparents? Were you? WERE YOU? I swear, that place is 90% old people, 10% everything else.
