This would result in every response to the original post being worthless and confusing. People would ask "What are they responding to that has caused such a debate?" or "Why is the word hello so engaging?" So, while the thread itself would not disappear by editing or deleting the text of the first post, the ability to understand all that follows that initial post would be diminished. |
Hi.
Are you a member here? If so, then who are you? If not, then why don't you go ahead and register? |

| But, in a long debate, I think reading the rest of the posts would make it quite clear what the topic of the debate is. In a ten page debate about one topic, I don't think the first post is really nessecary to figure out what the topic of debate is, considering it will probably be repeated throughout the thread. |

| Well......you all know what I think, as I posted it back on the page before this.........but I would like to say that I do not think debate threads should be deleted by a user, but only a mod.......however, I do think the thread starter should be allowed to delete non-debate threads. This includes those that started out as a simple info gathering thread and turned into a debate...................
Well, gotta go..............that's my opinion.................

| So what are you basing this on? The forum it started in?

| There is only one type of thread. A thread. Is its status as a "debate thread" based on what forum it is in? The board cannot detect whether or not a debate was started.

| I mean threads that are supposed to be debates, not meaning that they are started to cause a fuss of course, but rather to get info about what other people think and basically argue about it, as that is basically what a debate is: an arguement.
For example, if a thread is in theology, it would most probably be deabted on, so you could considr all treads in theology a debate.....
