Pretty much anything off of Caedmon's Call's
In The Company Of Angels, but especially
God Of Wonders. Josh Moore (the keyboardist for CC) takes what was originally a guitar solo and turns it into a really kicking B-3 solo... it rocks. The stuff he does during the rest of the song is really good too. His playing on the rest of the album is incredible.
Just about anything by Joy Electric, but particularly
The White Songbook - both the album and the song by the same name. Lots of great stuff in there. Ronnie Martin is a great songwriter, and his chosen medium of expression (analog synthesizers) really works well for him. He has a great way of being able to convey emotion through his arrangements.
I really like
Always Be My Home and
My Father's Heart off of Rachael Lampa's debut CD
Live For You. They are both really simple, yet extremely beautiful, piano ballads.
Lots of Downhere's stuff has great keyboard playing. The songs
Calmer Of The Storm (featuring acoustic piano) and
Free Me Up (featuring a wonderfully overdriven Wurly as well as some nice honky-tonk-ish piano fills - if I'm thinking of the right song) come to mind.
I always thought the little riff in Linkin Park's
In The End was cool, even though it's really really simple. I just like the way it sounds, and I think the sound of the piano really fits in well with the riff.
I'm sure there are lots more, but that's what came to mind tonight. If I think of any others, I'll post again.
In His love,
Nate
