Ian Esklin was originally from Charlotte, North Carolina. He played keyboards with Code Of Ethics for a brief period of time. He put out a couple of synth-pop CDs under the name Ian before forming ASU. To my knowledge, most of the original band were from the USA. I hung out with them a few times when they were touring for the first CD and none of them SOUNDED Aussie or British. They were based out of Nashville, TN back then, but I don't know where they are now.

First of all, this is actually HIZlilROCKER's brother...they won't let him log out so I can get an identity on here, so he's letting me use his deal. But anyway, here's the scoop.

Taboo is actually a song from Ian Eskelin's solo album coming out September 21st, titled "Save the Humans". But I think he has a download for it on his site:

It's pretty good. He gets back to the clever lyrics of International Anthems. Actually, I'm on his site right now, and he has a player where you can listen to a few other songs of his.

Hah, ignore that.

I thought "Taboo" was a okay song. But Ian tried to put his quirky lyrics into a song about God...and it failed. He seems to be able to write about other topics in a much, much better way. Lines like "I could kiss a kangaroo/Sick my spitz on your shih tzu" in a song about political correctness?

And from what I've heard on his website (I've listened to all the clips numerous times), it sounds like this is going to be similar to Revolution. Which, of course, I thought sucked royally.

It seems like InPop has gotten ahold of him and he's now writing more CCMish songs about God, instead of "risque" songs like "If We Were Lovers".

Actually, I made a bit of a review/rant on my MT journal. You can read it here. I hope this is in the realms of permissible advertising...

Yeah...I do wish he'd go back to writing those biting, cynical lyrics. That was half the fun of listening to All Star United. Worldwide Socialites Unite was one of my favorites.
