Ridge, it's me....Taylor...

Ello all.....Squeeky & ANYONE who has Taylor experience(s), please feel free to drop a line here on your thoughts of your guitar & recommendations for Taylors. Im thinking about the 614ce or something around that size/sound quality, & seeing as I dont have much experience with T, I'm turning to you all - so fire away :kspin:

PS: Oh yea, please let me know a decent price for whatever Taylor you mention as I dont wanna get ripped off.....

PPS: Squeeky/anyone, have any idea which model Taylor Michelle Branch plays?

cheers

Taylor 614CE, Gibson J-45, Gibson SG, Gibson Les Paul, Gibson J-160E.

Those are the guitars that I've been told that Michelle Branch plays.... And looking back on your list, I see Taylor 614CE, which is likely right around what I want to get.

I like the Taylor 614CE, although hearing that Michelle Branch plays one makes me like it just a bit less........but ok. I'm only guessing here, but in USD, a Taylor like that should cost about $1800 (and should have a list price of about 50-60% more than that just to scare off wannabes).

Personally, after playing comprable Martins, Gibsons, and Guilds, I liked Taylors the best. I think nate's estimation is right on the money...if you do buy it, though, make sure they throw in a hardshell case, all Taylors ship with them.

i would e-mail the people at www.elderly.com and get a price quote on that guitar. i recommend doing this b/c they generally are right there with the lowest prices on guitars. you will not find the price on the website b/c taylor doesn't allow their guitars to even be in an online catalog for sale (that's dumb to me, but that's there thing) ...anyways, the price you get from elderly i would consider to be fair...and then you can go from there comparing it to other places.

If you see a Taylor 614ce for under $3g then GRAB IT IMMEDIATELY! Wait, forget that. Leave it alone. LET ME GRAB IT IMMEDIATELY. On the Taylor site, the Taylor 614ce latest price is around $3,400 if I remember correctly.

I was very few times more impressed with a guitar than with the 614ce. Even in my own pyramid scheme of guitar hierarchy, I rank the 614ce over the Martin D-18. The 614ce I even preferred over the Taylor 8-series (with which I was not terribly impressed). I personally don't like the cutaway and the Grand Auditorium shape, but Maple Taylor's rock. I fully reccomend them.

No problem. I could find 100 of them for you at $3,000. Just tell me when. I think the issue here (maybe) is that you live in New York City. Cost of living is high in large cities, and so while you'd be jumping for joy that you paid _____ for whatever commodity, someone who lives a 2 hour drive out of town would be soiling their drawers trying to figure out if they'll be able to pay for it without selling their house first.

Oh, and Taylor list prices are ridiculously marked up. Trust me. If you can't find a 614CE for less than $2500, definitely keep looking. I'm a bargain shopper, so I probably wouldn't stop until we were below $2000

(all prices USD)

Wow that is amazing. The lowest I've ever seen a 614ce was $2800. Though for some reason I did come across a rosewood Larrivee a/e for $700. Didn't have $700 in my wallet though

I bought my '99 614ce used for $1400 and sold it for $1550 about a month ago. It was used but still great condition.

Hey Reags, I'd be happy to take your PRS off your hands for $700 USD, so you'd have enough for that Taylor. :kwink: I think that's about $1,155 AUD? :kgrin: Anyway, I hope ya get the funds for it.

Mr. Squeeky, I noticed your in the NYC area. Are Taylors marked up that much in the city? I live in Northern NJ and I can find Taylors close to what the others have been posting here. You might want to spend a day looking on this side of the river.
