My family does not have ferrets, but our friends have six ferrets. And they keep them in the kitchen. All Ican tell you is be prepared for alot of escapes, chases, bites, smells, and trouble. Allot of trouble. If you like active pets, and are willing to clean disgustingly smelly cages, and think chasing down a pet everyday is fun, then ferrets are the way to go!

They are like really smart, really playful cats. They have a stereotype of being really smelly, but I have dealt with many ferrets that aren't. They are usually happy as an only pet or with other ferrets. They use a litter box (use shredded newspaper type stuff.) Some areas here in the US have strict regulation on keeping them captive, makling them more trouble then they are worth. Find out in your area before you buy.
