Any Screamers?

I was wondering, since the name of the forum is vocals and not just singing, if there is any people here that can scream. I like to scream along with stuff like 12 Stones and Blindside, among many other bands.

I do quite a bit of screaming in my Acoustic Hardcore band. We're getting pretty good.

A friend of mine's hardcore band did an acoustic show once. He did all of the screaming and everything, it was great!

I don't scream. I don't want to ruin my voice.

Hey everyone! Since this post was about screaming i thought i'd ask... Does anyone have tips on "how to scream"? I know this sounds weird, but i've had major trouble with it. So if anyone has any tips at all, email me at david88532@aol.com soon please! Thanks!

Im probably not much of an expert on it, but there are ways of doing it without messing up your voice.

Too true, my friend, too true. I LOVE to scream along with my favorite bands. The point that most people miss is that screaming in a song isn't the same as screaming at someone/something. It's like taking regular singing and adding a virtual distortion pedal... if that makes sense to anyone! Of course you can't hit as large of a range of notes but it sounds dang cool!

I grew up listening to stuff like Megadeth, Pantera, Tool, White Zombie, Marilyn Manson, etc... my voice got very used to screaming.

Since becoming a Christian, it actually creeps me out to listen to those same bands... sends chills up my spine... nevermind the fact that those bands all VERY HARSHLY blaspheme God.

Now I scream along to 12 Stones, Pillar, Kutless, EastWest, Skillet, Living Sacrifice, Eso Charis, and many, many others.

Screaming in music is cool. :kgrin:

Dude, i agree with you 100%. And i have to say that Skillet and 12 Stones are amazing bands.

Another thing that sucks is that i can sing and scream better than alot of bands that i hear in my local scene, but i cant seem to find a band that needs a bassist that does backing vocals. gayness!

I can't believe you guys are talkinga bout sreaming bands, but ignoring Chevelle. That guy has one mighty nice set of lungs. Try singing along to "The Red" on the last chorus/outtro. I like to scream.. My lungs aren't where I want them to be, but I can't complain.

agreed. i won't attack screaming as not being musical, because it does take talent to do well, i would think. definately not my style.
