I tried screaming with underoath but I couldn't get my voice to go that high while screaming. my favorite band to scream with (or is it growl?) has to be Haste The Day. All I Have and Blue 42 are good songs to scream to.

Chester Bennington is cool...he has a great singing voice, and he also has the ability to scream while staying on tune...I haven't heard that in, well, any other band :-P

I'm trying to teach myself to scream, but it's not always easy...and it usually makes me want to cough <_< . But there has to be a way to scream without messing up your voice - take Toby Morell (Sp?) from Emery - he screams often, but he has one of the best voices I've ever heard.
Any screaming tips would be appreciated :-)

No matter how you scream, you are doing some amount of damage to your voice. Listen to any screamers in bands that tour alot and you'll hear it in their voice. I watched Underoath's DVD and I could definately hear how Spencer's voice was wearing down. The technique that works for me is to restrict my throat as much as possible. You don't have to actually scream to get a good sound, just a normal talking volume can usually work. Start out whispering, then get louder and push your tongue further back in your mouth to cut off the air, that's the only way I can describe how I scream. I've never had any pain from screaming so I assume this is probably the safest way to do it. I can get a pretty good tone, alot like Spencer's from Underoath.

yeah that's what I do. I scream along with stuff like Blindside, Underoath, and Kids in the Way. I can't scream with bands like Project 86 and bands like that. My screaming is to high pitched.

yeah that's a very good point. more like he does something to his voice to make it sound like he's growling.
