I recently entered this variation of Settlers of Catan in a contest by the game's publisher. You can convert other people's settlements, cities, and roads to your own. Give it a try sometime. Some people I've played it with tell me they prefer this version to the original game.
The attached ZIP file has the full rules and a tile you can print out and put on a blank tile or the back of the desert.
Converts of Catan by Doug Parmer Story

Like many lands with diverse populations, Catan has developed a wide variety of religious activity. While the different faiths are not seeking to win followers by way of violent means, all are ambitious and eager to spread their teachings throughout the land.
