Spoons is fun. I've had some great times playing spoons. Ahh... the memories...

How do you play Spoons? My youth group could use some new fun games...

It is similar in concept to musical chairs. Each player starts with 4 cards. The person next to the deck picks them up, one by one, deciding which of the 5 they have to keep. the discard then goes to the next person in a circle and so on. When you have 4-of-a-kind you go for the spoons (they are in the center- one less than the number of players.) You man not pick one up without someone getting 4-of-a-kind. Once someone has one, everyone trys to get one. hope I've been clear.

Nice explanation. You forgot to tell how to secretley steal someone elses spoon if you didn't get one, though. Extreme sppons is even funner. But you get hurt sometimes

I play it that way only when someone doesn't get a spoon they get a letter like you do in "Horse" and when you get the whle word you're out. Ususally we spell "spoon" but with a lot of people you'd want pid or something short. Also when sometimes we play with a rule that you can't talk to anybody that's out of the game if you are still in it. If you do you get a letter. It's fun to be the person thaty's out b/c you can be bugging people like crazy and try to get them to talk. Yeah but spoons is such a good game.

Yeah, I play the way that you spell out "spoon" with your losses. I've only played the no talking rule once though.

one time we played the game spoons but with shoes instead....it was fun till someone decided to start throwing the shoes...

Spoons is only fun if you play the way with a caller, like the person will say 2 to the right or 3 to the left, its alot funner that way i dont like the cheapo way of playing with like just passing one card all the time i find that way kind of boring.

I've never played it with a "caller". How do you play it that way?

you just have one person call out how many cards are going to be passed around the circle and which direction they are going to be passed, in my opinion its funner that way, if you just keep passing one to the right you have to wait like forever to get the cards you want.

It's fun because after awhile the excitement build up and it starts going faster.

I've only played once, a couple of weeks ago. It was awesome. After diving into the corner of a cramped kitchen to try and grab a flyaway spoon, though, my thumb just hasn't been the same since.

I think Knives would be an interesting twist. It would take a lot more skill than the random flinging of arms and grabbing that usually takes place durning spoons. lol. Just make everyone wear safety glasses .
