No. If the crucifixion was necessary, then God doesn't have a free will, either, and He doesn't do anything according to His will, but only because He has to.
Aaah...but Christ had to die because God can't lie...read the Messianic prophecies of the OT. If Christ had not died, God would have been a liar.

Now, as for why this whole plan of redemption, and why it works the way it does...and why he chose to do it this way? It brings him glory...that's his desire...but I can't say I fully understand that.

Peace.

I agree with what you've stated in the last couple of posts. Why??? I think it has to do with not presuming too much about God. Maybe that's the problem that I have with a lot of debates. I know that you guys mean well and that you're trying to figure things out to but the way your views are presented come off as if you've got the only understanding of our Lord. But the big questions can't be answered. Like it or not, we're in the same boat. All denominations and view points. It honest answers like these that make sense to me. BUt then again, maybe I'm a little slow.

Who authored the prophecies? If Christ were not to come, then the prophecies would be different. The prophecies didn't necessitate the coming of Jesus; the coming of Jesus necessitated the prophecies.

Correct. But if you'll notice, I have stated my ignorance on exactly why God planned it out this way...and do not really wish to speculate.
