So in English, the message would have gone, "Bananasmurf, this is 88B, message received loud and clear, over." It was supposed to be a joke, but I guess it didn't really work. Sorry.

Salut! Have you ever considered this program? I believe there's a way to pay for the course at a particular college, but if you're really lucky you get a bursary and only pay around $150 for registration. (And transport, of course, depending on where you go.) They have classes for all levels and it's a really great way to improve your French if you are able to do it. I went this summer, and, despite being a bit out of place (the one group that wasn't considered was Quebec anglos!), it was a great experience.

French Speaking Quebec

Hi. I have been studying French off and on for the last 6
years. Ever since my company got purchased by a French company.
I have struggled with foreign languages ever since school (even
by USA standards), but I think I am a litle more motivated this
time. I'll try to put a note out on this site (in French) at least
once a week. It's very good practice.

I don't think I am going to make it to France very soon, so I
would like to go to Quebec on vacation and try to emerse myself
for at least a week in the langauage. I heard that Quebec City
is an all French City. Do you think this would be a good place to
visit ?

Dave

Quebec City is an excellent place to visit. It's a very French-looking city (the Old City, that is), and a lot of Americans and English-Canadians come here to practice French. The people are pretty understanding of that, and do their best to accomodate. And there's no shortage of things to see. I think it would be a good experience. Of course, I'm a bit biased, because I've lived here for a year-and-a-half now...
