Whose list was that? I'll give three cheers for "Do The Right Thing".

As Sean not-so-eloquently put it, Dan-o quoted the poster turnpike gates.

BrooksB, I know what I like, and I'm sorry you can't relate to me, but hey. You need some laughs to balance out the tears.... I'm not going to try and justify my choices too much, because they are *my* choices and I have a horrible time trying to explain myself. But I'm glad you liked Amelie. That movie was so beautiful...and Monty Phython was just so funny.

As for the animated features, don't try and downplay animation as a "kid" thing....it's an art. I admire Lilo and Stitch's watercolor backgrounds, and Shrek is just genius (in terms of animation)

As for your final question, I can't give you an answer that you would understand...you would need to know me much deeper to understand any answer I would give.

It's just that I put Amelie on a higher level than most of the ones you mentioned. I didn't mean to cut you down or anything. I like Monty Python too. I also have funny movies on my list, including Amelie-- it's not a straight up comedy, but it's quite funny nonetheless.

I like animate movies too, just not the ones yoy listed. Those just annoy me, and I don't place them as high as Amelie as far as quality goes. Especially Shrek *shudders*

That's cool, it was a rhetorical question anywho

brooksb, thanks for responding... sorry for the "animation is an art" speech - I'm put on the defensive all the time at school, so it's hard for me not to be... well happy movie watching days...

I just saw 'M,' a movie on VictoryRose's list. Wow, very good stuff. Amazing that it was made in '31. It might be added to my list pretty soon.

No offense...but 8 of these 10 are movies from the 2000s...haven't you seen any real classics?

Very, very, very, very Good point. I always love lists filled with every hip indie film from the last 3 years, but they fail to catch any classics from before 1980.

"M" is in my queue. There are a few flicks from the '30s that I want to see, badly...but they are so darned hard to find.

I'm really stoked to watch Metropolis...from all I've heard...it's amazing.

Ah, that sucks majorly. Hopefully your movie rental places have a really good selection. Or you could complain to Netflix about it.
