I'm about to buy a drumset from a friend and want to know what you guys think is the best drumhead. I've asked several people and have heard Evans and Aquarian but wanted to get some more feedback b4 buying either
Evans and Aquarian, in my opinion, make the best drumheads available right now. Remo has gone downhill a bit in the last few years in terms of quality and consistency. My drum teacher (who is a professional drummer and percussionist) agrees with me on this. He also thinks that Aquarian makes slightly better drumheads than Evans. I haven't used Aquarians much, so I can't comment on that, but I can say that Evans makes a much drumhead than Remo. I've also had a few problems with Remo heads being slightly undersized.
I too have heard that Aquarian is good. But I wouldn't know from experience as I still have the original heads on my kit. :kshock:

I'd recomend Remo or Evans personaly. Both are nice. Also be sure to try out different levels of thickness - I personaly like hydraulic heads, they sound nice and fat live.
do not buy remo snare heads!! i had one.. i broke it in 1 month.. my evans head has lasted oh 7 months already.. and still going strong.. still has good tone too

My Mapex heads have been going strong for almost three years now, and they were tuned by an ex Navy band drummer....
My snare is still nice. I can still make windows rattle with it.
