He definitely has a pretty good vision, but I agree. He has done an adequate job of adapting text to vision...but we should expect with the quality of Tolkien's work and a blockbuster budget that of course a nice-looking movie will come out...and Jackson didn't surpass those expectations.

In other words: he didn't screw up. But I think "best director" should encompass more than just not making a bomb.

Have you seen Peter Jackson's Dead Alive? The most violent movie ever made...and downright hilarious. He deserves a grammy for that. Why a grammy? Well, Avril Lavigne is nominated for one, so....

My Mom bought Signs and Unbreakable today, and I just watched both of them back to back... holy cow, M. Night Shyamalan is AMAZING. Unbreakable is going to be one of my favorite movies forever now.

Unbreakable is one of the most underrated movies of the past few years - people couldn't get past the "comic book" theme of the movie.

But the way it is directed, the different shots and angles, and of course the plot, it's truly an amazing film. My favorite of M. Night's movies.

As I said in the screenwriter thread, I forgot to include Wes Anderson. I love his style.
