The ASVAB

Just got my results back... I was wondering if anyone has the careers booklet that tells what each military career number means. I didn't get one, so having the number "6" means nothing. Any other thoughts/comments/questions/postulations?

I made a like a 89 or something. They gave us 2 numbers. I had an 89 and like a 5 or something .( i don't remember.) i know the second number was smaller, but i had the best you can get (on the 2nd number of course).
Word of advice. IF you don't plan on going into the military, do horrible on it. The military is constantly bugging me with telephone calls still (and its been like a year).

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery.
Its basically a test to see how well you would fit in the military and which branch and job you would fit best in. It basically consists of a certain number of parts that each test certain capabilities.

This link should explain it a little better.

Yes. I took that when I was a Jr. and they've called me LOTS of times, only to get turned down.

I scored in the 90's, so I got something from the Navy about working on a nuclear submarine. Yuck.

Thumbs down

I took the ASVAB. I made like a 71 or something. I didn't really try. I'm in Army JROTC so I really got bugged about joining the military. I finally flat out told them I didn't want to go. And I have a friend who got them to stop calling me.

Someone at school was telling me that their friend made really well on the ASVAB. He kept getting a billion calls. He wasn't interested at all in joining. So months after having a billion people call he pretended like he was interested. And finally he was like I have a question.. "Are you still accepting Gays?" The guy was like.. uhh wait someone just came in. I"ll have to call you back. No one ever called back.

I thought that was a good idea.

I think I might have my ASVAB book around here somewhere.

*looks in various places* FOUND IT!

So you were a 6.

Well I can't really say what a 6 means b/c there are these quizes and stuff you gotta take. Then you put all the information together and it is supposed to tell you what your best career options would be.

LOL they probably make everyone do well on it so they have a reason to bug you about joining the military.

I wouldn't even take the test. (if I were you)

Actually, the scores of that test are important to them, because they need really smart people in certain areas.

But what if you never intended on joining the military, nor want to? Then that would be really annoying.

Yes, very annoying.

I went to public school, but fortunately, I never had to take the test.
