i did not mean it that way at all. i meant as in artists songs you would discuss. sorrry...
Ithink that when people write songs to god or about god they merely keep to their own understanding of who god is whereas other people, take third day for example, use scriptures as the basis of their songs...
I mean think about it. The scriptures are already made up to sing to god in song all you have to do is add music to them and wah lah a song to sing to the lord.
But songs that arent from the bible but straight from the heart I think are personal to that person. Speaking of how god saved them or other ways.
take this song HIDE which is below. I wrote it when I stuffed up with my walk with god.
Then I thought hang on Jesus died for everything we do wrong so why do I still fall?????????????????????? I mean its a clear walk from us to him. But we make it seem too hard and so does the devil.

i think many ppl dont get into this forum just because scripture can become just something that is read and it SEEMS to have no meaning...ive been there! but once you start to realize the context of the scripture and the reality of the writer's words it becomes a powerful tool- especially in music.
the combination of powerful scripture and music can bring alot to someone and i find most anointed songs are ones pre-written by God Himself...its in His word.
You see David when he writes... he sometimes is overjoyed, triumphant, sometimes scared like when he is running from saul, sometimes he is in the pit of dispair like when his son tries to take over the throne and drives david out (again). Once you understand the reality of scripture then music fits right in.
Get into the word of God, get into the psalms and see the psalmist's passion and complete openess, it then allows you to understand and know and write songs alot better.
Its all about knowing the scripture before you relate it to music and i think many musicians just couldnt be bothered knowing it well and would rather comprimise into just lyrics that are by christian standards "a nice song" and sing the ones that just "sound good" instead of the ones that speak a thousand words interwoven into goon musicianship
