The Rolling Stones

What is this heresy? I did a search for a Stones thread and none turned up! I figured I'd start a thread just for the sake of CGR having one. Anyway, I bought the newly released Forty Licks. I've only been listening to the first disc heavily, and it is quite excellent. I don't like The Rolling Stones subjectively as much as I do The Beatles or other bands from the era, but I recognize their importance and excellence. Now discuss

Only slightly less important than The Beatles, at the time.

They should REALLY stop touring.

Do they sound that bad? I'd like to see them just for the sake of seeing them.

I agree. I like their old stuff (60's & 70's), but their new stuff (80's forward) bores me. I'd still like to see them live though.

No, they still sound surprisingly good, from all reports, but look at them! They are making fools of themselves and cheapening their legacy.

You're right at that. Keith Richards is taking this whole "gonna maintain the outlaw image" way too far.

Unfortunately, our generation didn't have the luxury of seeing the Stones in their prime, so I'll take what I can get.

I like a few songs by them, but other than that I could do without them. My dad raves on and on about how great they are, though.

I think I'd really like them if it weren't for Mick Jagger's voice. Normally I can get over a bad singer in a band, but for some reason, Mick just pushes my limit a little too far.

*edit* Fixed puncuation.

Jagger isn't that bad a singer, as singers go.

I'm not saying he's a bad singer, I'm just saying I can't stand the quality of his voice.

VH1 rated "Satisfaction" to be the #1 rock song of all time and The Stones to be the #2 band of all time...

Piff.

What's your favorite Stones cuts, guys?

"Sympathy for the Devil" tops my list.
