Top Films of 2002

I'm surprised this thread hasn't been started already. I'm wondering what everyone's top movies of the year are *expecting a wave of LOTR at #1 *. I'm unable to give my list because I've yet to see "Adaptation," "The 25th Hour," and "Chicago," (thanks to the wonderful limited release studio strategy) but as soon as I do I'll post my list.

Yeah, I think that sounds about right.

*note to self... remember to make this thread next year.*

I'm left with a bunch of unseen movies from 2002 so far, so I'm going to go ahead and make my list, and likely edit it later. For now, I've only seen a few even worth posting, so...

1. Punch-Drunk Love
2. Minority Report (Not sure where this will end up... just saw it for the first time)
3. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
4. John Q
5. Spider-Man
6. Catch Me If You Can

My honorable mention for now is Triple X. I saw it for the first time last night, and though it wasn't a "great" movie, it did a great job of entertaining me. Another honorable mention to The Powerpuff Girls Movie for making me laugh harder than any thing else could. I still have to see Adaptation, Chicago, Signs, Red Dragon, and a few others that I can't think of right now.

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of The Clones

What can I say, I love Star Wars!!

And besides, it was the best one of the 8 or 9 movies I saw this year! lol (Which TTT was not one of them... thankfully!)

I was hoping that Andy would post his list so that I could cheat off of it, but he didn't. This is though. I can't remember what came out this year.....

1. Signs
2. .....I can't remember the year. I can only remember movies that I enjoyed, but not many that I thought belong on a list. I'm going to go do some research and then come back and edit this post. While I"m gone, Andy can you please post a list so that I can know what to put on my list?

Things to note: I haven't seen Adaptation, Punk Drunk Love, Gangs of New York or Catch Me if You Can. Given their directors, any of those could make it onto my list after i have viewed them.

Unfortunately, I haven't watched many of the blue chip movies this year, like "Far From Heaven" or "Gangs of New York", so I'll just have to say "Minority Report" and "Insomnia".

Hmmmm.

1. Attack of the Clones(I don't care what you say, that was a GOOD movie)
2. The Two Towers (of course)
3. Spiderman (cool special effects!)
4. Count of Monte Cristo (LOVED this movie!)

I've seen lotsa other movies this year that weren't made in 2002 that I would mention, except that's not what this thread is for. so see ya!

Heck the only movies that I saw this year in a theatre were Attack of the Clones, Harry Potter II and the Two Towers. So yea, I guess that's my top films list, though I'd rank it Harry Potter, Two Towers, and then Clones. But none of these rank that close to my favorite movies of all time list.

Ahhhhh, that didn't help too much because I haven't seen 5 of those movies. When did I get so behind on my movie watching? I used to be on top of things. I really need to do my homework.

I thought Changing Lanes was good, but I don't think it'll make my list. Road to Perdition will probably make my list, but I would like to watch it again before immediatley adding it. I recently talked to one of my friends about that movie and he got me thinking less of it. So I'd like to see it again. Goodness mentioned Insomnia. Thats another one I liked, but I don't know if I liked it that much.

This wasn't a very good year for movies at all. I'm not suppose to have this much trouble deciding my favorite films of the year.

Possible Current List:

1. Signs (my only definate)
2. Road to Perdition
3. Fraility

That's a hard call, because I saw quite a few that I liked.

-Road to Perdition
-Signs
-The Count of Monte Cristo (cool movie, but I think the novel was better).

And a whole list of others that I can't be arsed to type out.

I'll adopt these because I pretty much always agree with Andy on these things....

(the fact that I've ony seen two of these is irrelivant)

Haven't seen a lot of movies in theaters this year... From what I have seen Road to Perdition, Bowling for Columbine, and Two Towers are my favorites. But I have not seen "Punch-Drunk Love," "One Hour Photo," "Gangs of New York," or "Catch Me If You Can" yet... in time, in time.

I'd rank the ones I've seen as follows...
1. The Two Towers
2. Signs
3. The Sum Of All Fears
4. Road To Perdition
5. Spiderman
6. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
7. The Count of Monte Cristo
8. John Q
---------------------
9. The Attack of the Clones
10. Showtime
11. Scooby Doo
(the line divides the good from the bad)

But the numbering of 1 & 2, and of 3-7 is hard, 'cause they were all very good, and it's hard to say what's best... 9-11 are definitely last though, lol.
