Make vows to the LORD your God and fulfill them;
let all the neighboring lands
bring gifts to the One to be feared.

So are you saying that one should not make resolutions to ones self to try and make oneself a better person?

no, i think you SHOULD make resolutions. i don't think it's objectively right or wrong, but at some point in your life, you do need to make vows to the Lord. guess i should've posted my thoughts with the verse. i'll do it next time..... my main point in posting that verse was to say that if we DO make resolutions, if we do make goals, they should be as an offering to the Father. they should be pleasing to Him and if we make them, we need to keep them. i haven't done well at keeping mine. but now this year i'm going to strive very hard to do it.

Knock...Knock...

Knock on wood!!!!!

You should try to keep a promise to something, It's a pretty sweet thing to do, even if it seems a little retarded!

It's funny how a lot of peoples new years resolutions involve losing weight...if I made a New Years resolution, it would be to gain about 10 pounds

This year I said I was going to lose weight...well accidently I realized I had lost weight. Over the past few weeks I have unintentionally lost like 15 lbs...

It's craziness!

I'm with you, I made a New Year's Resolution in 1990; I resolve
not to make any more New Year's Resolutions --- it is the only
one I ever kept!
