In Eastern Philosophy everything has its opposite and both sides are required. Without the salt, we could not appreciate the pepper. The tension between the opposites is what makes one great. A truely great mind seperate the two as equally necesarry and valid. Picking one implies the other lacks some quality. I refuse to make such a suggestion. I need my salt to enjoy my pepper and my pepper allows for my enjoyment of my salt. By having the 2 we have wuji, or absolute neutrality. When we have nothing, only then is it possible for something to rise. The perfect circle can become no greater. By not having salt or pepper, we would be incomplete and inherently lacking. My acceptance of salt and pepper brings me closer to the perfect circle.

I'm not a salt fan. No way. Unless we are talking about french fries or popcorn. Those need salt. Yes.

But my Mom doesn't use much salt in her cooking, because my Dad had high blood pressure. Her food was always so amazingly good without it, I just figured that I didn't need it. still, my bp is a bit high, and I think I need to cut out even more salt (no fries or peanuts or popcorn) as well as the fatty foods. Sucks for me. My Dad also has type II diabetesl, so I'm at risk for that... solution? diet and excersize. Bummer.

But yeah, I put pepper on a few things... like Tomato sandwiches... and avacado sandwiches... and in soup... on spaghetti... So, that's more things that I use salt on... so I chose pepper.

Word, my future sister-in-law despises salt. She's hilarious. She just can't eat it. She also is trying to eat healthier, so whenever she's done eating something, whatever's left she'll put salt on so that she won't pick at it for the rest of the meal. She's an odd one. The first time she came to my house we happened to have friend with our dinner and I, being the salt monger that I am, loaded mine up. Shs didn't know that I did, and she narked one of my fries. She puked. That was my first impression of my brother's fiance (girlfriend at the time). Frankly I don't see how she sleeps at night without her salt.

ugg tha'ts a little on the gross side... just a little too much salt for me. i use salt but i dont dump it on.

lol that reminds me of a story that a friend told me about a rpank that was pulled on a teacher. they loosened the cap on the salt shaker to where it woudl fall off and left it on the table. it was in high school so i woudl imagine the intended target was ajr higher but they got more than they bargained for... a teacher. he sat down pickeup the salt and started looking at soemthign else while pouring the salt onto his meal. and i ema pouring. so the worst part she said that was he started to mix it in... everyone lost it then. lol that would habe been funny to see.
