(Nashville, TN) - December 13, 2002 - Reunion Records group NewSong, currently of the road with their Christmas Shoes Tour, continues to reap benefits from their #1 song "The Christmas Shoes." The hit CBS-TV movie, The Christmas Shoes, starring Rob Lowe and Kimberly Williams, pushed past all of its network competitors with roughly 17 million viewers. Included in this wave of success, NewSong's The Christmas Shoes CD sales have doubled this week and the book written by Donna VanLiere, that spawned the movie, will be #7 on the upcoming New York Times best seller list. Being on the New York Times best-selling list for two years in a row, The Christmas Shoes book was also #1 on Ingram's hardcover fiction bestseller list last week. It beat out John Grisham, Michael Crichton, Jan Karon and David Baldacci, among others.
NewSong can be seen on the Wayne Brady Show this Monday, December 16th (check local listings.) They will also be appearing with Donna VanLiere on CNN Headline News the same day. The CNN piece airs several times between 6pm and 6am E.S.T. on the 16th and will re-air at the same times on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Beyond this national exposure, NewSong continues on their 10-city Christmas Shoes Tour wrapping up in Charlotte, NC on December 22nd. With NewSong hosting, the tour also includes Mark Schultz, Ginny Owens, Freddie Colloca and Brother's Keeper. Between Christmas and New Year's, they will host and perform before 25,000 students at their Winter Xtreme Youth Conferences between Christmas and New Years, and will return to touring in January and February with Plus One, Carman, Tait, Natalie Grant and Daily Planet on their renowned Winter JAM Tour.
