The life of snowboarderTim...

Here is the start of my first blog, interesting huh? Anyway, feel free to ask me questions about my life, and other boring stuff like that. If you're into snowboarding, skiing, paintball, guitar/bass (can you believe it!?), magic (I know alot about illusions, though i haven't done much with it lately), computers or anything else, I would love to talk. Trust me, I'm not as boring as the beggining of this thread.

Tim

Describing myself and the things I do...

I have been designing myself a bass guitar for the last six months, hopefully I'll be able to start building it in the next month or two. My favorite bands are Relient K, Pillar, 77s, Pax 217, 38th Parallel, and just about anything else actually (especially when the band seems to have talent). and my dad needs to use the phone...

okay, continuing my boring blog... I have just started playing bass for my youth group, and have learned to play it in the last three months. I intern at a place that builds websites, does stuff with telecom and other related stuff. I'm enjoying this type of work and will be attending Wayne College (a local place) starting next year using post secondary (read: free college). I am home schooled (and yes, I do enjoy it).

Feel free to leave a reply, and help get my blog started (so it doesn't look like I'm talking to myself...)

Tim

Hey bon-bon,
I've never tried sand boarding, but I have thought about it. It must not be to popular in the U.S., since you're the first person I've "met" who sandboards. Unfortunately the only good places to sandboard over here are probably upper Michigan and California (both more than 8 hours from where I live ). Sounds pretty fun, do people build jumps and do stunts like snowboarders do? Will a regular snowboard work? I might just have to convince my friends to go to Michigan with me and try it!!! Sounds like fun...
Tim

PS, thanks for checkin out my blog

hey tim

i have never made jumps when i have sandboarded. the dunes we hit are nearly vertical and often follow into others to get smooth but up and down kinda ride.

i saw this guy the other day (on tv) make a jump to complete the worlds biggest double back flip jumpy thing on the sandboard or something, but that is the only time i've ever seen a jump.

sandboarding is well worth the effort of driving 8+ hours to experience.

Bon-bon,
Looks just like snowboarding minus the snow and below 32 degree temperatures. Me and my brother will be going snowboarding come January, so I'll try to take some pics. Watch for them... oh, is it summer in Australia? It's winter here.
Tim

PS, Do use a kite, or do you dust go down hills?

Hope he lands that one!!!
Is he sand boarding or snowboarding?

The guy is sandboarding, but there are some crazy guys here (read: dumb) who think its cool to snowboard without a shirt. When it's 40 or 50 degrees farenhite you see a lot of people dressed just like that.

When you say 40 degrees do mean celcius? If you did then my letter meant 0 degrees celsius... Anyway, you probably know when water freezes. I think they just use kites for real flat beaches (you would, most likely, get seriosly injured otherwise going down those hills... ).

Where abouts Australia do you board?

Tim

Talking

Oh yeah - 40 celcius... sheesh, i forgot to mention that.

I can't believe you goons wear no shirts when it's 40 F! Crazy old cootes!

At the moment, I mainly board around my area. There are sandmines at the back of our farm that go on for kilometres and kilometers and kilometers. They are pretty vertical also, and tall as. They are fantastic to go down. However, you take half an hour to climb to the top, 30 seconds of adrenaline and then you are too stuffed to go back up again. However, there is a line up at the top, people who are waiting to use the board! Anyhoo, you do about 2 or 3 runs a day and you are too tired to move for several months.

Australia is such a huge place and I'm only a little girl - I haven't ventured that far around the country. Actually, last July we went to the snow and I saw snow for the first time. I've been overseas as well, but they didn't have sand there! LOL!

There are a lot of dunes though, especially at the coast (how ironic!) There are also red dunes in the centre, near the big rock and all, apparently. But, as biased as it may sound, the ones at the back of the farm are the best in the world. Geez - they even shot a video with Mel Gibson in it there! I doubt you can top that

We just got a big snow dump last night, seems like it's going to stay for Christmas !!! Lol, maybe I could mail you some. Not very deep, but definatly a sign of good times to come... Which Mel Gibson movie? That's cool! Was it filmed on your family farm or just close? Do you guys farm? We have angora goats (strangly, they don't grow angora, they grow mohair). Actually, we've only had them just over a year, they're fun (sort of).

Snow shmow is all i have to say!

I don't want any, but thanks so much for the offer! I think it is going to be about 23-25 degrees C for Christmas day. Perfect for water fights and funness. Unlike you suckers who have to stay indoors to keep warm. Suffer in yer jocks.

The Mel Gibson movie - Galippoli

It was shot all around this area. The bits where the 2 guys are running accross stacks of sand dunes were taken at the dunes at the back of the farm. we don't actually own the dunes, but the farm to get to the dunes is ours. we didn't own the farm tho, when the movie was being filmed.

we have a farm but we don't farm as such. the dreams that mum and dad moved us here with were shattered (due to God's "bigger than my people's plans" plan). we have some other dudes sheep on the farm cos he doesn't have a farm for them. we milk a couple of cows also. dad would love to have goats, but they ate my mum's garden.

anyhoo, i'm off like a frog in a blender. hope you freeze. have a wicked christmas

Forget water fights, here we have snowball fights *woohoo*, get cold, and then come in for hot chocolate *yum*. One good thing about snow is you could eat it (although for the same reason I don't drink rain water, I don't), try that with sand!!! Oh well, I geuss you learn to like the place you grow up in (although I think it would be cool to try New Zealand).

I have three Christmas partys today!!! This is going to be crazy (although I'll probably be done by the time you read this)! I had church, now I have to go to a party with a whole bunch of musicians along with guitar n' bass, this last 1 till 2:30, then I rush to the "Loyer" family Christmas party (gift exchange and such) from 3:00 till 4:30. Then wrap thing up (and exhaust myself) I have to go and play bass for my youth group (5:15-8:00). Do I sound like a basket case (for lack of better description)? Anyway gtg...
