Slocum gone

I was surprised not to see a thread about this. So...

I am so glad to see Slocum removed from the head coach position. It was about time. I thought he should have been fired the season after we won the Big 12 and then failed to beat Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl. And I like the new coach from Alabama. Although I can't remember his name.

Isn't it Francione or something like that?

And yeah, I think Slocum's a good guy and all but losing as many home games in one season as A&M lost in the entire decade of the 90s can't be a good thing. He needed to go after that. He'd had a great run there for a while but the last few years have been bad news for A&M. My dad's been depressed constantly during football season.

I'm a big UT fan, but it's still kinda sad to see it end for a guy like that. Especially a man who was so much a part of his school and had just lost one of his players a few days before (not to mention getting creamed by his biggest rival). I would have much rather have seen the guy retire or go at least go out on peaceful terms. Not be fired and replaced by a guy who's leaving his school just for the money. Francione coached an alabama team that was on probation, got the team to ralley togather and believe in one another and come out and play like one of the best teams in the nation (I still think they should've beat OU ), then leaves them all hanging just to get a pay raise. O well, UT is still the best team in Texas and next year in Dallas we'll prove we're the best team in the Big XII!!!

Excuse me? Texas Tech beat UT as well as A&M and Baylor this year. TEXAS TECH is the best team in Texas at least until next year.

Well allow me to point out which team it was that was actually leading OU at halftime (not even A&M can say that). Besides, I talking in terms of talent and the fact that UT is ranked 9th. Although I will say that Tech played it's best game of the season (even better than the A&M game) that fateful day in Lubbock....however, if Simms reciever cuts the other way, the pass isn't picked off. Thus UT keeps the ball, and the way that game was, scores. game over.

You're going to argue that even though Tech beat TU, TU is still better becasuse they led a different team at half time? Come now... that's absurd.

Yep... I was going to say the same thing myself.

Texas is a very talented team (as usual) but as long as Mack Brown is coach they will tank. Mack has a vice-grip on his neck every time Texas has a big game. Its just the facts. Look at the past couple of seasons.

The Tech school beating up on all of the other schools... I love it so much. Only in Texas. Here in Cal, you'll never see Cal Poly beat up on UCLA or USC... or ever Cal or Stanford... Heck, even San Diego State or San Jose State! or even Sacramento State!

Okay, anyhow...

Well......when you're team loses to that team 60 - 15, I think it has some credibility. Besides, that first td pass kingsbury threw against UT was lucky. flat-out lucky. If the planets don't align just right on that play, UT picks it off, goes up 21-0 and wins the game similar to the OU - Tech game. Now of course it sounds like I'm just lookin for every excuse in the book, but thats because I am. I mean, you're team beat my team, of course I'm gonna try to come up with every reason in the world to prove my team's better.

What's black and fuzzy and hangs from the ceiling?

An Aggie electrician

Or did you hear about the Aggie Kamikaze pilot?

He flew 22 missions

:kconf: What the...Where the heck did you get that? Francione and his wife both graduated from Southwest Texas and his wife hates it down in the swampland. And I'm pretty sure Francione wasn't planning on staying in Alabama for much longer. And can you blame a guy for leaving a school who's on probation for stuff he wasn't even a part of?

I can blame him when before the start of the season he talked to the team and convinced the players not to transfer to a school that could be bowl-eligible and to stay loyal to their school and to win one for the Gipper and all that cheesy inspirational stuff.......and then bails on them the next year for greener pastures. By the way, has anyone else here read the story on ESPN.com about the Alabama folk who are buying Francione bobble head dolls just to break them?

Yeah, there was a radio station over there that sponsored a big Fran Bobblehead smash. They got like 4,000 of 'em and took them to a driving range and I think for like a buck or so anyone that wanted to could tee off on one. They had footage of it here on local t.v. One of the funniest things I've seen in a while. They were smashed into pieces.
