| Why do they recommend the 200 gallon tank size? Is that a misprint?

probably because they get rediculously big in the wild.
I have never had one grow more than 7" and thats from my experience with one albino, and several of the regular black ones.

| i love my pets!!!!!!!!!!! [COLOR=darkslateblue][FONT=arial narrow][SIZE=3]
i have two cats. both black and white. my cat's name is Sassy (the third), and my sister's cat's name is Cookie. we just went on a trip to Texas, and when we got back, they were like, soooooo fat. we also have two gerbils, Lewis and Clark, you know, like, the explorers. we thought about Batman and Robin, but, it just didn't fit 'em. every time we clean out their cage, and put them into their excercise ball, they just sit around and poop in it. how confusing do you get? today, my sister found this BIIIIIIIG, GIANT, 8in. long, gross, creepy, nasty, sick, ugly, stinky hornworm, like the kind on tomato plants. she went and got a bucket of dirt to put it in so it could make it's cocoon. YUCK! i HATE big worms and spiders, and scorpions. i don't like most bugs in general. eeeeewwwww! we play music, of course. i play hammered dulcimer, and guitar. she plays fiddle, and piano. i like to sing some too. i want start a band with some of my friends. well, bye for now. i get to go to the library tomorrow!!!!! |

I advise that if you want to tell stories like the one you posted, take it to the Cheap Post Forum, or start a new thread in the appropriate forum.
Thanks

Heh... it's a good thing freshwater is more forgiving.

yep, I was on another fish forum that I belong to, and a guy has a 20Gal dedicated to them. I have found alot of people in forums are rediculous for fish tanks like 150 Gal for 2 Oscars and such.
Ok, so the lots of room for the fish is nice, but one doesn't have to be rediculous.

Most freshwater species are used to adapting to changing enviroment sizes... lakes rise and fall... rivers widen and narrow. However, the ocean is, well the ocean. Fish don't as easily adapt in the saltwater environment to small spaces, especially ones that swim around all day long (like tangs and triggers).

| I probably wont go salt, its too delicate, maybe after I have my own house, and wont have to worry about moving. also the fish are pricey.

| A time to grieve,
I bought a siamese fighting fish on saturday, and today it died.
It somehow contracted a fungus, the tank was fine before I added it, and it looked fine in its bowl at the store, now everthing has fungus.
I treated it with these tablets I had that are to treat cottonmouth (mouth fungus), fin and tail rot, and body slime.
we shall see how it goes
