Hmmm....

Oz Fox + Michael Sweet was a interesting combonation, gotta hand it to a guy that could sing + play guitar and do some wicked soloing. I got 3 Stryper albums on 45s...Great stuff

Although they were good, Rex Caroll from Whitecross IMO was the best......His guitar solos were insane...Take a listen to "eternal fire" , classic.

Another good mention would be the guitarist from Holy Soldier.....No clue what his name was, but still great.

Phil Keaggy is good, really good.

The Edge from U2 is pretty darn good in his own right too.

Mike Ernest from Burlap to Cashmere is really good; just listen to the solos and transitional stuff on both their live album and Anybody Out There.

I like Mark Tremonti and his music, but he's not a Christian (according to Scott Stapp in a recent interview). U2's the Edge is an excellent choice too, as far as innovation. Also, does anyone remember the band Black Eyed Sceva? They had awesome guitar stylings with all kinds of weird tunings.

man...there are so many awesome guitarists that ive heard but those that ive seen live would have to be:

Phil Keaggy (OMG!!!!!!! SO AMAZING GUITARIST!!!!!! he played rhythem, lead, and percussion all at the same time. and THEN detuned in the song and kept playing...totally gifted dude)

Shane Barnard (he is awesome amazing worship leader...and that tripple strum thing, MY GOSH, so hard. only a few people in the world that can do that)

Mark Tremonti (awesome electric guitarist!!!)

i dont know his name, but the guitarist from 12 Stones is pretty darn good too!!!

and also the guys from kutless ARE really good!!! saw them just recently in concert and they were amazingly cool!!!

ok i may be stupid but.....who is Stu G.???? and are steven mason and matt odmark from jars of clay??? sorry im not that great with names.

creed and most alternative cant touch the great metal, or classical artists, or even well done blues, or jazz.
