| Movies that fly under the radar What are some movies that were not really hyped by the press and media, but were really excellent films?
My list would include The count of monte cristo and spy game. Yeah they did have some commercials, but I didn't know much about the films when i watched them, and they seemed like they had been given minor press after their releases....any opinions?

| A whole lot of independent films. I can make a list if you want, but it would be real long. |

| Hannibal. Many people passed this movie off as a grotesque horror film, but it was actually quite well done. Of course, in society, when something shocking happens, citizens tend to focus in on one particular instance instead of assesing the situation as a whole.

| Its hard to claim Hannibal wasn't hyped by the media considering as of right now it holds the record for biggest debut for a rated R movie. |

| Definitely UHF, the Weird Al classic.
Punch-Drunk Love. Dirty Work, for comedy. High Fidelity. I'd agree with Spy Game, though I haven't seen Count of Monte Cristo. High Crimes was pretty dope. Yyyeeeeeeaaaahhhhh |

| Granted. My point was that it flew under the "artistic" radar, if you will. Many people passed it off as a gory horror film, which it was not.

| Are you kidding? This movie has been hyped and hyped and hyped for months. I agree with that, and wanna add Office Space. It's a classic, but not that many people (where I'm from anyway) have seen it. Quote: |

| That would be really, really long. Indies are the best. Hmmmm....I liked it, but it was just a typical Redford movie [of late].

| Greek Wedding didn't get much hype at first, but it certainly is now.
Batman - hope you are kidding. It held the record for largest opening weekend of all time for a while and grossed like $250 million dollars in the US alone.
Insomnia - It didn't make a ton of money, but it did make about $60 million. Thats certainly not a flop. |

| I rather liked Insomnia. I had no clue that Christopher Nolan directed that. Slightly less creative than Memento, but it was good. |

| Paul Thomas Anderson's (Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love) "Hard Eight." It was his first film and is a great little character study. |
