well thats your opinion, but it did make an insane amount of money, so that means people went back and saw it again, and again, which is doesn't happen very often with movies that are three hours long.
I think the general consensus would be that it lived up to its expectations | Are you saying that Titanic isn't overated. Its 3 hours and 17minutes long and is highest grossing film of all time, non-adjusted.
No matter how great Lord of the Rings was, its still just an adptation of a book. |

| I didnt like Titanic, but I would say yeah in general it was not overrated. Im saying that if you polled all the people that saw it the majority would say it was not overrated.
I think the same thing would happen with Lord of the Rings. And not only that, it was the first third of the adaptation of ONE book. For not having much of an ending, I believe it satisfied most people that saw it.

So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

| Yeah but everyone knows that there will be 2 more movies. Is it a very good adaptation of a book? Of course. You couldnt' expect that much more from it. Is it one of the great films of all time compared to films like Citizen Kane? No, of course not.
A whole lot of people hate Titanic. Not too long ago there was a thread about what is the worst movie of all time. A whole bunch of people said that Titanic was the worst movie of all time. titanic, of course, is not the worst movie of all time, Mission Impossible 2 is.
You can't base what is and isn't overated based on what a general survey says. A whole lot of people if they say Citizen Kane would think it boring crap. Does that mean that it is? No, it means those people think entertainment = quality. There is a lot more to movies than that. In that sense Lord of the Rings is highly overated. |

| ok ok I can deal with that. But we're getting into a lot of opinions here, so lets just leave it at that. You believe Lord of the Rings is overrated, I respect that, but dont agree with it.

Like rotten meat and a rawnchy garbage dump, along with a cattle farm, and a barn full of manure all at once. It was terrible. Giving it a rating was over rating it. I'd rather watch paint dry. Where's that puke simley when you need it?

You can get yourself killed around here saying things like that. The scary movie exterior was the cover for a much deeper movie about characters. Your parents didn't get that. They were looking for a scary movie. Its not really suppose to be that. By definition it isn't a B-Movies because its much deepers themes. |

Even though the alien aspect was only a front for the real meaning, it was still intense. "Signs" was brilliant film-making. |
