NASHVILLE, TN…11/14/02…Dove Award-winning and Sparrow recording artist Nichole Nordeman has made radio history. “Holy,” the first single from her current project Woven & Spun, has broken the 2000 weekly spins mark on R&R Magazine’s AC radio chart, totaling 2069 spins this past week.
According to R&R, no other song has ever reached 2000 spins in one week at this format.
David Pierce, ADP/MD for K-LOVE Radio Network and PD for World Wide Worship, based in Sacramento, knew that Nordeman had written a hit song from his first listen. Pierce comments, “Our instinct said ‘add it.’ Weeks later, my research says keep spinning it! ‘Holy’ from Nichole Nordeman just sounds great on the radio!”
Scott W. Smith, MD of WPOZ in Orlando, could not agree more. “Nichole has recorded the BEST song of her young career with ‘Holy’...I am not sure that we have ever had a song that was instantly a fan favorite, but ‘Holy’ has set the mark for every other artist out there. ‘Holy’ tested #1 in our music research after just two weeks on the air! Thanks for your passion Nichole! You're the BEST!!!”
Staying in the top spot, “Holy” remains this week in the #1 chart position for the fifth consecutive week on R&R’s AC chart, is currently #9 and climbing at CHR and is #8 at INSPO.
“It has been a privilege for me to be a part of this song up to this point,” comments Brian Dishon, Director, National Promotion for Sparrow Records. “Not since ‘Dive’ from Steven Curtis Chapman was released three years ago has there been a song from Sparrow that has taken on a life of it's own with programmers and listeners alike. . .a promoters dream! Congratulations to Nichole for writing such a powerful song!”
Key reviews continuously roll in about Woven & Spun. Recent reviews ran in Billboard and USA Today:
“On her latest Sparrow collection (Woven & Spun), Nichole Nordeman further solidifies her position as one of Christian music’s premiere singer/songwriters…‘Healed’ showcases the beautiful poetry that infuses Nordeman’s literate, pensive songwriting. ‘Legacy’ speaks of making a lasting mark beyond what the world sees as success. She has an especially expressive voice that serves her well on these beautiful tunes. It all adds up to another strong offering from this talented artist.” - Billboard Magazine
“Nordeman writes meditative piano-based songs with thoughtful lyrics that are long on spirituality but mercifully short of evangelical lingo. ‘I Am’ possibly the finest song to come out of the Christian-pop genre this year, delicately renders a life's changing perspective on God, from the ‘elbow healer’ of her childhood to the redeemer of her eternal soul. And just because she makes explicit Peter Gabriel's line about "the doorway to a thousand churches" when she covers In Your Eyes doesn't mean she takes away one bit of the image's power. - USA TODAY
