| Chai Pumkin Spice Tea and it was the only tea I have ever drank that I had to throw away. It was so disgusting that I could not finish it.

| okay. i am bumping this thread because i just had one of the most amazing meals ever.
i went to a turkish restaurant with my brothers earlier, and i feel like i kind of want to live there. or get a job working nights and weekends there. or just forget corporate america and work there full time! really though, my family is middle eastern so it takes a lot to impress us when we go to middle eastern restaurants. i'm usually very picky and critical because we do it all at home anyways, but this was something else.
1. lahmacun - basically turkish pizza on a super thin crust with ground meat, peppers, onions, tomatoes and herbs. not gluten-free, but i ate it anyways and it was so good.
2. i got my brothers ayran, which is a yogurt drink--like dogh, if you're familiar with iranian cuisine. they said it went perfectly with the lahmacun. i don't like dogh, but i tried my brother's drink and it was really good with the food.
3. we shared a plate of rice and mixed meats that said it was for two, but was plenty for the three of us...and my brothers are over 6' and they're broad-shouldered, stocky boys who can put away a ton. we had lamb similar to shawarma/gyro-style, which was excellent (and i normally won't touch lamb), the best chicken kabobs i've ever had, beef/lamb kabobs, and what i thought was the equivalent of iranian lula-kabob--which is ground meat rolled into a pipe shape and put on the grill--but i now think was actually kufteh...which i normally hate. =)
4. baklava. of course. we got some to go and i made tea and coffee for us at my apartment, but next time we're going for dessert and we're going to have their tea and coffee.
if ya'll are ever in the greater sacramento area, let me know and i'll give you directions. i don't think i've ever felt this strongly about a restaurant before!
the end. =) |
