Question Best Boxer

Who is or was, in your opinion, the greatest boxer of all time? We might have to split these into weight catagories, but if not we'll just assume that you mean pound for pound the best boxer overall.

Certainly Ali was one of the most dominant boxers of all time, and Sugar Ray Lewis was always great too.

I like Rocky Marcciano, personally... Ali has a lot of things going for him... And for the smaller guys, I've ALWAYS loved Oscar De La Hoya, especially at the lighter weights. Of course, Sugar Ray Leonard also.

Ali, definitely, has to be the best boxer who ever lived when he was in his prime. But as I posted in the favorite boxer thread, when Hagler, Leonard and Hearns were in their prime boxing was never more entertaining.

Well, he wasn't that famous, but look into EARNIE SHAVERS. Not only was he da bomb, but he became a Christian evangelist afterwards. George Foreman, who wasn't afraid to step into the ring with Muhammad Ali, was terrified of Earnie and never boxed him!

Doesn't George Foreman have a church in TX or something?

threads kinda old but i missed it.
Boxings my sport. I have a brother, older than i who won nationals 2 times and golden gloves 7. He also won the Junior olympics(maybe came out 2nd not sure, it has him as won in the book). (of course i am talking about amateur boxing by the way ). I tried it for a while but the coach ended up shutting the gym down so i took up track instead.
Anyway, while i would love to put ali, because he basically changed the face of boxing from being just a fight to a form of poetry ( used the whole "dancing around to not get hit tactic"),but i think i will put rocky marciano. The guy was unbelievable. The only heavyweight to never lose a fight and he punched so hard that his opponents would have to go home and ice their swollen forearms after a match. (by the way was it Roberto duran who could knock out a goat with a 6 inch punch?).
I am also a big fan of floyd mayweather, junior and prince naseem hamed.

I wanna see a famous boxer (as in western boxing) step in the ring a UFC. All of the ones who've gone in so far get wasted in the first round.
