I have never liked the Tele that much. I would say get a Strat if you get a Fender. My personal favorite, however, is Carvin guitars

This post begs for more.... what is it you don't like about Telecasters that much???

btw, I share your like for a good Carvin guitar except I sometimes wonder about not knowing if it's really all that good until it comes in the mail...

In response, Nate, I have found that the Tele's neck is not as playable as even a Silvertone. They also just don't look nice to me. Strats are very easily played. I have a hard time putting mine down.:kcool:

What kind of strat do you have and what kind of tele did you play? Cuz if you have an american strat and played a MIM tele, of course it's not going to play as nice.
And was the tele set up good? Cuz my american deluxe plays beautifully.

That's the first time I've heard someone say they thought a Strat neck was easier to play than a Tele neck, but people have their reasons. Hey, lots of people have grown to love the super-fat neck of Les Paul - style guitars too. IMO, the Tele has a very playable neck because it's so nice and skinny. I don't like Tele's with jumbo frets on the neck b/c I don't feel that they're as "playable," but that's just me, Mr. Traditional.

I actualy like the jumbo frets better than the ones on my Les-Paul copy. It's easier to play chords up on the higher frets.

It was an American Tele. You see, I play bass and guitar. The thickness of of the Strat neck is perfect for me, since I'm used to large necks.

I agree with an earlier post - a nashville tele is a good solution. I bought my nashville earlier this summer and have been traveling around the South Dakota area playing at outdoor gigs all summer. I had a mexi strat before, but I traded it in towards this tele. Don't get me wrong, I love the strats equally well as the teles, but the idea of that kind of pickup setup totally won me over. I love the tele sounds, and if they've put a strat pickup in there too, that's incredible!

Fender strats are dead sexy in comparison to telecasters in my opinion. I like the sound of strats better and a lot of very famous musicians have played it from Buddy Holly to Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. (not to say the strat doesn't have any famous musician spokesmen) I might get a telecaster but only because I already have a strat. If I had to pick between the two I would choose both but since there is only one I'd get a strat.

Could you clear this post up?:kconf: You don't like strats? or do you?

And Tele's are actually gaining popularity. Alot of bands use them, satch, and I can't think of any others off the top of my head, but just look at how many teles there are in the music world. And besides, who cares what jimi hedrix uses! And who cares who uses a tele. Just worry about what you like and play.

I have a Standard Fat strat. To be honest, I've never played a tele before. I've come close, but never actually played one, so for me to comment on a tele would be stupid.

My mistake, the part in parenthesis is referring to a Telecaster. I put in Strat cause I must have gotten too excited and fumbled all over the keyboard or something. It should read (Not to say the Tele doesn't have any famous musician spokesmen). My apologies. Who besides Kurt Cobain played teles?

Last time I looked Keith Richards was playing a Tele, I'd say he's a famous spokesman.
