"goto" parameter in forums not working?

It seems that every time I try to access a page in the forums via a link that uses the "goto" argument, I get a "page not available" error. E.g. when I use the top 5 from the main CGR page or when I click "last" from an individual forum page. When I click "last" in a specfic thread, though, it works.

That's very strange. Does it happen ALL the time, or just more often then not?

Is anyone else experiencing this? I can't duplicate it on my machine, so I can't really troubleshoot it...

IHL,
Mickey

It happens to me every once in a while.. But i am thinking it's more of a machine problem/internet problem, than a site problem..
Just my 2 cents.

Uhh...it happens every time I notice it I generally don't pay much attention to whether the link uses the goto unless it doesn't work. Oh well, if it doesn't happen to others regularly, I'll assume it's my PC. It's not the first time it's ticked me off.

If anyone has similar things happening, I'm running IE5.5 on Win98

One thing about those "goto" pages - they all use an instant refresh of some kind - probably a meta refresh. Specifically...

-It starts to load the page with the "goto".
-That page figures out what the "newpost" (or whatever the goto variable) actually should be.
-It creates the URL for the exact page you should be on, and then redirects you there.

It makes it look seemless, but it actually loads part of a page, stops, and then loads a whole different page. It must be that your IE (or internet connection or something) doesn't like that. I'll try to look into it more and see if there's anything on this end that we can fix.

IHL,
Mickey

Mine used to do the same thing, but since I downloaded Netscape 7, it doesn't. (Was using Netscape 6 before... never had the problem with IE6)

i've got DSL

But the links work now. There was one that I didn't know where to find on the boards, so I deleted the goto portion of the URL, and, naturally, I got to the thread, just not the right spot. But since then, the goto's seem to work...

Or did you fix something, Mickey?

I didn't fix anything, because I couldn't find what (if anything) was broken...

IHL,
Mickey
