Civil Air patrol is a great way to get your pilots license and prepare for a military career or just learn some discipline that will help you throughout life and make friends. I am a member please ask me questions about this subject in this forum.:kyep: :klol: :kduh: :kcool:

I was obsessed with flying and the military a few years ago. I'm basically over that now though.

So how would someone become a member of that organization?

you could visit the national hq website at www.capnhq.gov and visit the unit locator page to find the unit nearest you and vist that unit's meeting. From then on out it is the unit's responsibility. Hope this answers your question. if not, post again Thanks:kyep:

i'm probably going to join the AF in a few years. barring any medical problems i'll shoot for a strike eagle or a raptor.

I would join but...

A) I have a friend who said he'll teach me for free.

B) If I were to go to a pre-mil academy, my mom is dead-set on it being ALERT

C) I'm going to sign up for Marines. I don't think it would get me the right slot if they saw I was a pilot, cause I'm going to 'grunt' status.

I' like marines. They are something to be proud of. I like MOST Military personnel. I just Got back from Pensacola NAS It was the last Blue Angels Show of the season. I went As A CAP cadet. That was cool Truth is that the Air Force at the base own's most of the boats and the Navy own's most of the Planes.lol It was cool.

Lol. I go to a G.I. Joe forum where most of them are retired Army, Navy, AF or NG.... I LOVE going around posting short posts and ending them with the word 'Oorah', in big size 4 letters.

Drives the Airborne guys there nuts.

Blue Angles eh? Sweet. I'd love to see them. I enjoy flying and aircraft and all that.... but I enjoy firing small arms and rifles more. I'm also alot better at ground tactics than flying.

When I was in the military, we used to say "Go green, or go home!" just to annoy the Navy and Air Force people. We used to call flyers the "Hair Force" because of their somewhat more relaxed foliage regulations. It nothing malicious, just good natured fun-poking.

The military can be a lot of fun, or it can be a living nightmare, depending on your personality and interests. For me, I loved it, but my brother would absolutely hate it. Especially the part about cutting your hair, the structure and discipline, the yelling, and having to wear a uniform, as well as just about everything else about it. Different people have different interests.
