Ahh!! Sex is everywhere (on TV)!

I was watching TV tonight, and every single commercial and TV show that I saw contained either sensual/sexual dialogue or acts, or something of the sort. Will we never be rid of this plague? (Well, obviously not)

It's starting to get really bad. I don't even watch VH1 or MTV anymore 'cause all they have is sex and more sex.

Well, I guess the line from Creed's song "Signs" - "We all know sex sells and the whole world is buying" - has a lot of truth to it now.....It's just too bad.

Then of course there's SexTV, which contains, according to various articles I've read, full frontal nudity and airs at 11:00 when many children and teenagers could be watching. It's sickening the kind of stuff they can get away with on TV.

I'm glad that there are other people that think there is too much sex on tv, i was just thinking the same thing the other night when I was going through the guide and Vh1 had some show dedicated to the "booty" followed by "rock bods" which was something about good looking rock stars. Geeze louise doesn't anybody like music for, shocker coming, the music?? Why do music video channels dedicate hours upon hours of programming to untalented karaoke singers with firm abs.

Thanks for allowing the rant, I'm done now.

My problem isn't that there's so much sex on tv, it's the way that it's depicted that I have a problem with. You know, the "American Pie-celebrated-immoral sex is good let's all laugh it up" kind of way. I can't stand that, and it's the main reason why I really on watch sports on tv now.

Yes, TV likes to glorify sex, and that's a lot of my problem with it. It's LAME. But hey, you know what they say... Sex sells...

i agree. Sex is depicted as "anywhere, anytime, anyone. No consequences" on television and movies. That is jacked up. If a TV show or movie actually talked about sex in a mature way and showed negative consequences of illicit sex, then maybe sex crimes, teen pregnacy, and STD's would not be so common. But noooooooooooo, we'd rather make a few extra bucks. sad

Not the jars dvd

but i suppose you mean movies with plot lines and all that goo. I agree with leiarose, as soon as I get my own place i will either not have a tv, or have a tv with only basic channels for the purpose of my videos...and lettermen

Exactly, which is why I don't have a problem with a movie like "Eyes Wide Shut" but do have a problem with the "American Pies" of the world. In "Eyes Wide Shut" immoral sex is shown as what it really is - cold and destructive. In "American Pie" immoral sex is celebrated and everyone has a happy ending. Having nudity doesn't make a film bad (I didn't say unsuitable for some, I said bad). As the Ebert quote in my sig points out, it's depiction and attitude that matters.
