| I think I have a kazillion favorite authors, but my absolute favoritest are:
CS Lewis (the Chronicles of Narnia were the first chapter books I ever read.)
JRR Tolkien (once I got past the first couple of chapters in the Hobbit, I became a fan for life.)
Agatha Christie
John Grisham
Madeleine L'Engle
Robin McKinley
Donna Jo Napoli
there are tons more, but these are *the* ones. |

Tim Powers

My favourites: John Grisham, Michael Crichton, Stephen King, R.A. Salvatore, Jeffrey Archer, Tolkien, JK Rowlings, Tom Clancy. ^_^... oh, CS Lewis and WEB Griffin too, before I forget. | ah, yes, I do like Grisham as well. he's kind of a guilty pleasure because I consider his stuff to be generally unintellectual, but he's fun. I haven't read anything by him for a year or so, though.
another one I forgot to add is Harper Lee. |

| Agatha Christie.
Oh, Hercule Poirot, is amazing. ( I like Miss. Marple too.) Many of her books have a intricate story line.
I enjoy Mystery Novels. |

| Children, however much it impresses me that the time was taken to dig up a three year old thread, old threads should stay dead and in the grave.
EDIT: But to keep this from reoccurring, we'll just sticky and merge it and let this serve as the official thread on the subject.

| L.B. Graham -- For creating a believable though not extremely mystical fantasy world in "Beyond the Summerland" and "Bringer of Storms" Ted Dekker -- For everything he's written except Showdown Frank Peretti -- For "Monster", as well as everything else he's written, to a lesser degree Bill Myers -- For the original story in "Blood of Heaven" and the good treasure hunt in "The Face of God" Thomas Hardy For "Far From the Madding Crowd" -- an engaging story, though not the best I've ever read -- certainly among my favorites. C.S. Lewis -- For "Mere Christianity" and "Miracles" James Byron Huggins -- For "Leviathan" (though a little over-the-top), "Rora" (for some of the best historical fiction I've ever read), "The Reckoning" (within my top three books of all time), and for "A Wolf Story" (a believable animal allegory).

-- Matthew West Acts 1:8 -- But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye sahll be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Mark 16:15-18 -- And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall hlay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

| Hmmm... I would have to say, King David, and his son, King Solomon. David experienced almost everything that you could in life. And his son was the wisest man that ever lived. One could learn a thing or two from reading their work.

| Paul, because he is the gran'daddy of missions Anne Rice, because of her testimony and her subject matter C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien because they present Biblical ideas in their fiction
