new logo

ok, I have done this before. But we at the BSU: Christian Challenge severly need a new logo. This is our old one:

I have asked for help on this in the past, but the directors didn't like it. Here are the new ones people have kindly created for me:

and

they really like the current logo we use, but they admit it looks like it was made out of construction paper, all boring solid colors. So if any of you can spruce it up some, or come up with something similar, I would greatly appreciate it.

I would also appreciate something entirely new. I really want something different than what we have now.

Here is an older logo some of you might be interested in:

Just a few final notes on the logo. Our official name is now BSU: Christian Challenge. Our slogan is "To know Him and make Him known."

I would greatly appreciate any and all help anybody can give me on this.

So fire up your graphics designers and have some fun.

Thanks all to those who can help in advance.

One thing:

Does the college have a certain color they use all the time? Most letter heads and envelopes are either one or two color. Like a blue and black or something.

Im going to submit designs that can easily be used for that purpose. Printing is the goal I assume, and a logo needs to be press-friendly (as well as wallet-friendly). However, any cool effects like drop shadows, bevels, etc. can be applied to the logo later. We can spruce it up however you want for that. But too often people forget that logos are printed and printing costs money. So keep that in mind when I post thumbnails that lack a certain pizzaz. If the basic idea is liked, we can stylize the crap out of it for web use or occasions where a four color printing is needed, like fancy brochures or whatever.

So let me know if there is spot color they often use on all their documents and such. I already have an idea in my head...

My favorite recent quote on CGR:

"Bono is so full of himself that it hurts. Every time I read one of his quotes, it makes me want to puke on his face. It was a good quote, but it is made bad by the fact that he is more self-righteous than George Clooney.
- Art

I am slowly re-assimilating back into the CGR.

well we have always used blue and yellow, but right now anything would be cool.

Just a little more info about our current logo. (It is the first one in the thread.)

The mountains in the logo represent the rockies, in that we are in fort collins, co which is right at the foot of the rocky mountains.

The rest of the logo is the old SBC logo. The cross represents Christ, the book (bible) represents SBC's commitment to the world; the globe represents SBC's commitment to global missions.

Does this mean they want all of these things incorporated? My current idea only had the cross...

OK, here is my first idea that came to me immediately. Im not sure if this is the right diresction you want me to go, so I stayed a bit conservative. Keep in mind, we can add any desired effects, I just wanted to make a "sketch" to see if Im on track here... And also, I want to make it possible to be printed for simple/cheaper things, so I made a base logo with that in mind.
