Many are convinced their is some English and Icelandic slipped in there too, Benj. I'm not one of them, granted, but there are some.

It is so close to English at points too... Seeing that it isn't English, I am even more intrigued with this album. It isn't a real language yet it reminiscent of one... You strain to hear what isn't quite there but you feel has to be. Genius. I am going to have to re-evaluate this album, methinks.

Well, I am all set for Sigur Ros at the Granada in Dallas, April 2, 8pm. Hopefully the ticket isn't late or anything like that. I am very excited.

Have fun! Scott and I will be seeing them at earlier dates (not together). We'll let you know how they were.

There's been a lot of jibber jabber goin on lately, so I decided to fix everything up. Ok no objectionable material. Ágaetis Byrjun is partly Hopelandic and partly Icelandic. You can get translations for the Icelandic lyrics. Ok as far hopelandic goes, it's not gibberish. Well it is, sort of. It takes from english, icelandic, and several languages. Jonsí wrote basic vocal patterns and lyrics first, and as far as lyrics went he distorted and muddle them enough to be gibberish. If you hear the live version of Untitled 1 you can tell that he is obviously saying: You shine on, You shine on all us. Which were part of the original lyrics he wrote. If somethin sound really similar to english, it might very well have been english originally. It's like how the whole album is untitled tracks. They had been playing those songs for like two years already. All of them have titles. They just thought the concept for the album was cooler. I agree. Example: The Nothing Song/Njosnavelin is now Untitled 4. And if your parents are real wierd Jonsí, singer/guitarist, is gay. I dunno, maybe if they care. I don't see how that would effect the music they have made, but fyi.

Also: Josh Barton, I would say most of their songs are pretty intricate when you pay attention. I just thought that it was odd to say they were real simple songs.

I have read it a couple of places too, Adam. I am pretty sure it has some basis in truth.

Wow, that's depressing. But... After listening a couple times, I think Track 4 on () is my favorite. Beautiful melody I think. Completely unrelated to the conversation, but yeah. I didn't mean the songs are simple, I meant they sound simple, because it focuses alot on the underlying chords, not the melody. Like strings or keyboard or whatever. It's beautiful, no denying that.

You're so lucky! I was going to go to the Atlanta show w/ a couple of friends, but once again was thwarted by the evil parents. It's so sad living in Tennessee

Well, um... that's kind of a given. Of course the band has titles for the songs.

I pay attention. The songs are simple. The chord structures (for the most part) are endlessly repeating cycles; there are no tempo changes; there are no lead lines or intricate drum/bass patterns. The gradual ebb-and-flow of the music is what carries each song.

It's more of an atmospheric/asthetic thing than shear technical brilliance. Still wonderfull.

Exactly. It takes me a paragraph to say that, but exactly.
