The Nothing Song or Njosnavelin was first on the Vanilla Sky Soundtrack. Sigur Rós had not yet recorded it in the studio. The version that appears in the movie and on the soundtrack is actually live. When recording () they decided not to title any of their songs for the album. They had however been playing most of those songs for over two years, thus they already had names. Untitles 4 is actually Njosnavelin. Every version of that song is brilliant.

Has everyone forgotten about Von, their first album. And Von Brig, their remix album, is very good for what it is.

Everyone should check out Untitled 1 [Live in Vienna]. It is definitely my favourite of the moment. You can download it off of http://www.sigur-ros.co.uk/media/index.html

A rather annoying move, it has to be said.

It's winging it's way to me at the moment. I didn't know about the remix album, but I think that just joined the "To Be Purchased" queue.

That seems rediculous. They haven't done anything more fitting for themselves. The songs on the new album are not head and shoulders above the rest, but the packaging and way they presented themselves is perfect. And they are big here. They had a virgin megastore commercial on tv. I'm just happy I already knew about them. And their talent has gotten them where they are now. Thom Yorke didn't put them on the map, they were in the middle of a bidding war for Ágaetis Byrjun when Radiohead asked them. Besides Johnny heard them, and told Thom.

Why do you think most people have heard of them? And why do you think they got that ad over there?

Because they supported Radiohead and lots of people discovered them. And Thom shouts their praises, which goes out to an even wider audience.

15 different record labels were interested int signing Sigur Rós before Radiohead. Besides, most people recognize that Sigur Rós trancends Radiohead. Thom is just a fan. I don't think that Virgin would have changed their decision due to Radiohead. They got exposure due to their unique sound and broad appeal. I can play my mom Sigur Rós. And she will enjoy it. Their classical leanings of late also broaden the demographics.

I somehow think not. In both the "fact" and in the statement on the public general conception of the two bands.

Your mum might just have good taste.

I'm not referring to record companies, as is obvious. I'm referring to the public.

They might have got exposure because of their talent, but Thom gave them a huge amount of exposure.

Record labels draw attention to bands. And as for Thom being responsible, maybe in Scottland.

For those going to the Atlanta Sigur Ros show (*ahem Jared*), tickets go on sale THIS Friday. Looks like we have some ticket buying to do in a short period of time. I hope you can afford them both, Jared. I wouldn't want you to have to choose between the shows.

Nope, haven't forgotten it. I just haven't seen it sold in any stores.

I think that's a bit over the top, Scott. Sure, it straddles the fence between annoying and ingenious, but I think it falls on the ingenius side... It represents the album perfectly, as ol' Victory said. Sure, they have names for the songs- but to leave the name of the album, they lyrics to the songs, and the titles of the songs open to the listener is incredibly inspired. I can't possibly regard it as annoying, despite its slight inconvenience. That album should be viewed as a whole (or 2 halves), anyway- not as individual songs portraying 8 completely different ideas.

I agree with you for the most part. Good assesment Jared.

Oh yeah, I am making another trip down to see my best friend Jeremy, and we are seeing Sigur Rós in Austin, and maybe Houston. Maybe we could meet up with some people.

Yes, The Tabernacle. Like I said be prepared to purchase tickets Friday. I don't know how big of a following they have in Atlanta. Maybe it won't sell out. I'm just paranoid in general about tickets selling out to any show I want to see as you can probably tell.

And Jared, it looks as if we get to enjoy two shows together. I look forward to meeting you.

I'm very excited about sigur ros going on tour. I can't wait to see what the live show is like. I saw Kronos Quartet cover a sigur ros song and it was absolutely amazing. Iceland has very talented musicians and sigur ros is definitely a testament to that!
