Football conferences by the numbers..

so far this year.....

Big Ten
31-13 non-conference record (.705 win pct.)
3-3 vs ranked foes (all three wins coming against top 10 teams)
7-5 (a .580 winning percentage) against the other Bowl Championship Series conferences.

SEC
24-8 non-conference record(.750 win pct)
3-8 vs. other BCS conferences

Big 12
29-14 non-conference record (.670)
4-8 against ranked foes
9-8 (.530 winning percentage) against the BCS

Pac 10
26-8 non-conference mark (.760) *5 of those wins are against Div I-AA schools
7-7 vs. BCS teams

Big East
4-5 vs. BCS foes

ACC
18-8 against non-league opponents
1-2 vs. ranked teams

With those numbers, it looks like the Big 10 and Big 12 would be your top two conferences. The major difference coming in the Big 12 playing twice as many games against ranked opponents, and losing at a 2-1 clip.

The non-conference games are similar with the advantage going Big 10. But that could be different if the Big 10 had played as many ranked teams. 7-5, 9-8 against other BCS conference schools is just about a push.

Maybe if the Pac 10 hadn't played so many I-AA schools...........but we'll never know.

Exactly... I'd still say that the Pac 10 has done the best so far this year, and because of that it is still the toughest (top to bottom) in the country.

Oh well.... I thought those numbers were interesting (all numbers posted came from a newpaper article i read, not all conferences had the same things listed) and thought I would pass them along.
