I just wanted to comment that it really doesn't matter what # a WR is. The defense will key on Moss whether he's #1 or #2. If they put him at #3, does that mean the defense would put their 3rd string DB on him? I doubt it. It's just a number. Besides that, what really happened is that they are bumping Alexander to the #2 WR (Ahead of Bates).
As for Randy Moss, Yes, it is good when you play for yourself. The problem is that he had a $70 million contract, I think he owes it to the team/coach/owner. When you're making that kind of money, you can't just play how you want to, you play for all you're worth.

I know that its just a number. I just meant that Alexander will replace Randy Moss' routes on those plays. I know that no matter where you line him up at the defense will still concentrate the same on him. BUT...say Moss moved to the slot you will still have to have a linebacker cover him at times and as far as CBs go...example:If they were playing the Titans,I doubt that they would move Samari Rolle to the NB position on 3WR sets and put Mike Echols or Donald Mitchell out at right CB. Then you would just have to call a quick audible and the defense would have to adjust. I didnt mean that they would just think oh hes not the #1 guy now. Lets forget about him. I should have gone into more detail.
The reason for moving Moss would be to let him know that hes not the #1 option on offense anymore. I heard Mike Tice say that he was going to do this for a week or two. Does anyone know if this is still the plan? I'm not a Vikings fan so I dont really follow them THAT closely. |
