(Nashville, Tenn) September 12, 2002 - With two projects under their belt, Phillip and Natalie LaRue are gearing up for the release of their third album, Reaching, which streets on October 8, 2002.
Following their successful self-titled debut and their sophomore release, Transparent, LaRue's latest endeavor demonstrates the brother-sister duo's growth spiritually and musically. On Reaching, Phillip and Natalie examine deeper questions of faith and knowing God. At the core of LaRue is a passionate pursuit for knowledge of God and the heavenly kingdom. They seek it for themselves, and challenge others to seek it as well, through their music and lyrics.
"LaRue has definitely matured on this album as songwriters and as performers," notes Dean Diehl, general manager/Reunion Records. "They have a found a unique place musically and lyrically that is all their own."
"Reaching revolves around the theme of surrender-surrendering emotions and feelings, surrendering relationships, and surrendering to God," Phillip said. "It's not necessarily every song, but when you listen, you get a feeling of giving things up or letting go to God."
Working with industry veteran Monroe Jones (Third Day, Ginny Owens), Phillip and Natalie experienced creative freedom while in the studio. During the recording of Reaching, LaRue's touring band came in and recorded on the album, as opposed to studio musicians.
"These musicians have an incredible chemistry playing with Phil and Natalie," said Jason McArthur, Director of A&R/Reunion Records. "By having them play together on the album, I think we captured a collective energy that makes this album something special."
In preparation for the release of Reaching, LaRue will be hitting major touring markets including Chicago, Grand Rapids, MI, and Los Angeles.
On the retail front, Reunion Records plans to secure catalog advertising in fall pieces for all major chains and regional stores. LaRue also will be featured on Provident Music Distribution's "Above The Groove" promotion alongside other popular Provident Music Group artists, beginning in August and running through December. Merchandising opportunities include a joint endcap kit with label-mate Joy Williams, consisting of headers, flats and shelftalkers. Reaching also will have a special price of $9.99 ($13.99 with a $4 off coupon at the time of purchase), premium endcap placement in Family Christian with more than 300 stores nationwide and over 100 LifeWay Christian Bookstores.
LaRue released its self-titled debut album to widespread acclaim in August 1999, and the songs "Waiting Room," "Reason" and "Someday" became radio favorites. Release magazine readers voted LaRue as their "Favorite New Artist or Group" of 1999, and The Disney Channel recognized the group's talent as it tapped the video "Reason" for its video rotation. The sophomore release, Transparent, brought more exposure as LaRue's song "Fly" was added to the soundtrack for "Left Behind" and The Disney Channel aired another LaRue video, "Jaded."
